Fans Are ‘Devastated’ For Wendy Williams After Her New Documentary Trailer Shows Her Sobbing While Saying She Has ‘No Money’

In Lifetime’s upcoming documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?, the television personality, 59, reveals her struggles with alcohol abuse and financial difficulties caused by her guardianship.

The emotional new trailer shows the former Wendy Williams Show host drinking alcohol after checking into rehab, and crying while opening up about her financial struggles.

Fans on social media continue to express their “devastation” and “concerns” for Williams’ well-being after the trailer was released online last week.

In one scene, Williams says: "I have no money," as reported by Page Six, and Lifetime removed this clip shortly after the trailer's release. "I have no money, and I’m gonna tell you something," she says. "If it happens to me, it could happen to you."

The documentary will showcase Williams' son, Kevin Hunter Jr., her sister Wanda, and other family members fighting to assist her in her physical recovery and liberate her from her financial confinement. As per the doc's description, it had "unparalleled access" to Williams and her family members for approximately two years.

"We all make choices in life," Wanda says in another clip, adding: "We all go through our challenges. [Wendy is] still a person." Williams' 23-year-old son can also be seen voicing concerns about his mother's court-appointed guardian and their inability to adequately protect her.

He says that the guardian hasn't "done a good job of protecting" the radio DJ as her sister adds that the system is "broken." Williams' sister also says in a confessional, with tears in her eyes: "We are her family, and you tell me that I’m not capable of taking care of my sister. What would you do? What should I do?"

Many fans have headed to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts after seeing the trailer last week. "This just broke my heart," one fan wrote after seeing it as another added that they "barely made it through the trailer."

Someone else added that they were "not ready" for the scenes and footage of the star while one other wrote that Williams' deserves "so much more" than the cards she has been dealt.

In February 2022, Wells Fargo alleged that Williams was mentally unfit and "unsound mind," and needed guardianship due to purported "financial exploitation" and "undue influence." However, the shock jock denied these claims and demanded the return of her funds.

"I want to see all my money that I worked hard for my entire life. My entire life," she said in a video for her Instagram followers at the time. Williams went on: "I don’t lie, and I don’t cheat, and I don’t steal. I am an honest, hardworking person."

Despite still being under guardianship, Williams seems to be prioritizing her time with family, as seen in the trailer obtained by The Sun. "I love being famous," Williams confesses in another clip, adding: "but family is everything — everything."

Williams has been absent from public view for over 200 days, according to Page Six, with the new documentary trailer indicating that her whereabouts are unknown even to her family. Last June, she entered a rehabilitation facility to confront her alcohol addiction, which her son worried might lead to fatal consequences.

Fans can watch Where is Wendy Williams? on Lifetime for two nights starting on February 24th at 8 p.m. ET, with the second part airing the following day.
