Fans Defend Jack Nicholson's 'Disheveled' and 'Unrecognizable' Appearance in First New Photos in Over a Year

Jack Nicholson fans are jumping to the actor's defense after new photos of him at home surfaced.

The Shining star started trending earlier this week after The Daily Mail published photos of him standing on the balcony of his Beverly Hills home—reportedly the first time he's been seen since he and his son sat courtside at a Lakers game in October of 2021.

Nicholson, who will celebrate his 86th birthday later this month, looked as though he'd just recently woken up, with his hair a little messy and his shirt a bit askew, leading the publication to label him "disheveled" as he enjoyed the warm weather from the comfort of his own home.

He's remained somewhat of a recluse for most of the last decade, last appearing in 2010's How Do You Know and rarely being caught in public. Rumors swirled that he was plagued with memory problems, forcing him to step back, but Nicholson told The Sun, “I’m not going to work until the day I die, that’s not why I started this. I’m not driven. I was driven — but I’m not, I don’t have to be out there anymore." He went on to reveal that there was a part of him that "never really liked being out there" at all.

Now, fans are jumping to the actor's defense over the criticism.

"He looks exactly how Jack Nicholson would look at 85 in my head tbh," one person wrote, retweeting the publication.

Fox News also published the photos, suggesting that the actor looks "unrecognizable" in them.

"1) He is very recognizable. 2) Let people grow older in peace you ghouls," one user responded to the headline, with another following up, "He looks like an 86 year old Jack Nicholson whose privacy is being invaded. Leave him be."

"He looks like Jack Nicholson after he woke up from a long nap," another countered.
