Does Hulu’s titular Kardashians show even count as reality television? That’s what fans wondered in a recent Reddit thread titled, “some public reactions to new trailer dropped,” in response to the latest glimpse of the upcoming third season of The Kardashians.

The streaming service shared the most recent trailer for the series on March 27th, noting that the show will return to our screens on May 25, 2023. On social media, many former fans and viewers of previous Kardashians seasons were “underwhelmed,” and “bored,” as seen in social media comments, and Redditors especially found the first look at season 3 to be “contrived.”

While the teaser does show happy and light-hearted moments from the Kardashian-Jenner family’s past year, it centers on more distressing times they’ve endured.

Fan Reactions To Hulu’s Promo For The Show

In the Reddit thread, one commenter wrote, comparing Hulu’s The Kardashians to the iconic E! Keeping Up With The Kardashians (which aired from October of 2007 to June of 2021): “the Hulu show isn’t as good as the E! Version was.”

They went on, “I think the biggest mistakes Hulu made were letting the family have final say in what stays and what gets cut, and the fact they’re shooting seasons and releasing all the drama at the same time making them overexposed and everyone who does care already knows the outcome of what happened before the show hit the air.”

The user added, “It’s happened with the first two seasons, I don’t expect this to be different.” Someone else chimed in, replying (and bringing up other reality television shows to get their point across): “Yup, I’m currently rewatching Vanderpump Rules and that is what Reality TV is. Drama, mess, cheating. The Kardashians is pushing their various business ventures.”

They continued, “Look at how quickly they wrote Pete [Davidson] out of the show once they broke up. Kim’s refusal to actually be vulnerable is killing the show tbqh.”

In a synopsis of the upcoming season, Hulu notes that “the cameras return as Kris [Jenner], Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie invite viewers back into their lives as they navigate motherhood, co-parenting and building their own empires.” The summary concludes, “Their bond will be tested and tensions arise, but as a family they will stand together through the storm.”

The Kardashians premiered its very first season on Hulu in April 2022 after concluding the E! series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, in June 2021. Kourtney, 43, confirmed in September of last year that her family was already filming season 3 at that time. Ultimately, whether or not this season will be as entertaining as promised, we’re still marking our calendars for May 25th for the premiere!
