Fans Call Out 'Impossible' Final 'Jeopardy' Clue That Left All 3 Contestants Stumped

Thursday night's Final Jeopardy clue was in the category 'Modern Words.'

Apparently last night's Final Jeopardy clue wasn't just difficult for a lot of viewers at home, it even stumped all three of the episode's contestants.

Devin Lohman, Sam Claussen and Emma Hill Kepron went head-to-head in the latest episode of Jeopardy! on Thursday, April 20, though they didn't have much luck when it came to the games final round.

Each of the contestants struck out during Final Jeopardy—and fans online think the clue may have been a little too hard, even for Jeopardy! geniuses.

Thursday's Final Jeopardy round was in the category "Modern Words," and prompted players with the clue, "Neal Stephenson coined this word in his 1992 novel 'Snow Crash'; it was later shortened by a company to become its new name."

After a snippet of the round was shared to the official Jeopardy! Twitter account after the show, fans couldn't help but express their thoughts over the super challenging clue.

"The final question has been so esoteric lately," one Twitter user pointed out.

"That was a ridiculous question," another critic plainly stated.

"Occasionally the final answer is virtually unknowable, like it was tonight," added another viewer, while one person blatantly called it a "terrible, horrible clue."

"So many bad final jeopardy clues. if 3 intelligent people don't know the answer, it is obscure or poorly written," someone else chimed in.

After none of the contestants had any luck coming up with the correct response, host Ken Jennings revealed the answer to the puzzling clue as "metaverse."

Since none of the players were able to add anything to their final scores for getting the question right, the winner of the game came down to the dollar amounts each person wagered. As a result, Emma, who was in second place before the Final Jeopardy round, ended up being crowned the winner, as she only wagered $4,000 and ended with $11,400 for the win.
