Fans Are Actually Blaming Beyoncé for Beto O'Rourke's Loss in Texas

It seems like Beyoncé’s election efforts were just a little too late — at least, that what her fans think.

The Beyhive has come for their Queen, critiquing the 37-year-old performer for her last-minute endorsement of Texas senatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke on Tuesday. According to The New York Times, the Democrat lost to incumbent Republican Ted Cruz by a 50.9 to 48.3 margin.

The Houston native called for voters to support O’Rourke on Tuesday evening, posting a series of photos on Instagram of herself wearing a “Beto For Senate” hat, along with the caption, “I’m feeling grateful for everyone before me who fought so hard to give us all the right to have a voice.”

She continued, “We can’t voice our frustrations and complain about what’s wrong without voting and exercising our power to make it right. We need you. We all need each other, because when we are truly united we are unstoppable."

Many of her followers criticized the songstress for not speaking up earlier, instead waiting just hours before the polls closed in Texas. One person commented, “Should have spoke sooner. Too little too late. When this was posted there was only 2 hours left to vote.”

While it's shocking to see the “Lemonade” singer’s fans criticize her at all, they do kind of have a point regarding her sway. With over 119 million followers on Instagram, she is highly influential. It’s entirely possible that her reach could have made a bigger difference during the midterms, especially considering the effect Taylor Swift’s viral political post had in encouraging young voters to register.

Regardless of who is really to blame, according to Page Six, many celebrities feel that the Democratic hopeful’s loss is actually a blessing in disguise, as he can now throw his name in the ring for the 2020 presidential election.

If O’Rourke does in fact run for President in 2020, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Beyoncé back him again. Hopefully, next time around Bey will be a little bit quicker in getting her post up.
