Costco might be better known for its $4.99 rotisserie chicken and its $1.50 food court combo that includes a hot dog and a soda, but the warehouse store's bakery section is home to its fair share of beloved fan favorites as well.

Six packs of mini cakes ($9.99) rotate with the seasons (carrot, lemon, snickerdoodle, and more), and consumers rush to stock up each time the flavors flip. The new-ish gooey cinnamon rolls ($12.99 for six) are "melt in your mouth delicious," fans rave. Of course, no conversation about Costco bakery items is complete without mentioning the elephant in the room: the supersized 4-pound cheesecake, available in vanilla ($16.99) or lemon meringue ($20), which offers an arm workout and a rich dessert all in one.

A surprising hidden gem hiding out in Costco’s bakery aisle—not in the bakery section that makes the custom cakes—"might be the best thing Costco's ever had in their entire store," according to Greg Young, aka social media creator @worthabuck.

In the late December 2023 Instagram Reel, Young is holding up an $8.69 two-pack of the new-to-Costco Schwartz Brothers Bakery Croissant Loaf, and adds, "If it was 100 bucks, my wife would still buy these."

Beyond savoring the mash-up carb creation—a combination of the best parts of buttery croissants and versatile sandwich slices—the croissant loaf "makes the best French toast" and is the start of a seriously "out of this world grilled cheese," Young adds in the text that overlays the videos.

Commenters apparently agree. A rush of reactions streamed in like, "amazing, amazing 10/10!!!!" Another follower said, "made croque monsieur with this and it's flipping amazing."

Others confirmed that it needs nothing more than a quick shift in the toaster, “a little butter and Nutella."

While $4.35 might seem a bit spendy for a single loaf of bread from a warehouse store, those who have tried it seem to almost unanimously agree that it's money well spent. Plus, compared to the same product’s price at many regular grocery stores—around $6.99 per loaf, per a Reddit thread dedicated to the Croissant bread—this Costco find is a real deal.

Schwartz Brothers Bakery describes its Croissant Loaf as "flaky, buttery, and handcrafted croissant dough shaped into a loaf," and we’re already dreaming up all of the ways we’ll put our $100-worth investment to great use. Shall we start with a Pesto Butter Grilled Cheese, Overnight French Toast Casserole with Bourbon-Maple Syrup, a Pineapple Sandwich, or Apple Bread Pudding first?
