Fangs Pumpkin Stencil

Is it strange that carving a hungry-looking set of fangs makes us hungry? Probably, but it's a problem that's easily fixed! Enjoy a tasty treat by toasting the pumpkin seeds you scooped out while cleaning your pumpkin. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F, and spread 1 cup of pumpkin seeds evenly over a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the seeds for 1 hour. Then remove the parchment paper from under the seeds, and stir in 2 teaspoons cooking oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Return the seeds to the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes more, stirring once.

To carve:

1. Clean out your pumpkin by flipping it on its side and cutting a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin. Scoop out the interior seeds and stringy bits, reserving the seeds to toast into a delicious snack (see recipe above).

2. Tape your printed fangs stencil pattern onto the surface of the pumpkin, and use a pin tool to pierce closely spaced holes along the stencil lines. Remove the stencil.

3. Carve along the stencil lines with a small carving tool, sawing from point to point to cut out stencil sections. We recommend carving stencil sections from the center outward for less risk of breakage.

4. Light your pumpkin with a flameless candle, and display it on your porch.
