The tennis world is still recovering from news of Serena Williams’ retirement and unexpected departure from the court and media circuit. The announcement of Williams’ great exodus arrives ahead of this year’s US Open slated to dominate the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, starting August 29 through September 11. Tennis fans need not fret if they’re unable to make the festivities. Fan Week is right around the corner, and this year, the six-day event has plenty of curated activations in store for eager fans. Free of charge and open to the public, Fan Week at the US Open Tennis Championships starts Tuesday, August 23 and will run until Sunday, the 28.

For its anticipated comeback, Fan Week is jam-packed with exciting daily activations that will connect audiences, fans and athletes of the sport. The star-studded lineup will include Featured Player Practices and the fan-favorite Legends Match, where a roundup of past US Open Champions, including Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and former top 5 player James Blake, will take to the court in spirited matches. Spirit enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Heineken Happy Hours, the perfect opportunity to cool off and socialize with friends before the end of summer.

Fan Week has plenty of wholesome action for the family and younger tennis aficionados looking to join in on the fun. The family-friendly Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day returns on August 27 and will feature a live performance set by YouTube sensation Dude Perfect. The event is open to all, and those that register for the free Fan Access Pass will also have access to Fan Week’s remixed Media Day for a chance to see in-person interviews with players, coaches and rising athletes.

This year, Fan Week introduces ticketed activations like the Flavors of the Open — the first-ever US Open food festival sourcing artisanal catering from world-renowned chefs Josh Capon, Alex Guarnaschelli and more. Flavors of the Open will introduce fans to culinary delights and provide tennis enthusiasts an opportunity to donate to the USTA foundation, whilst soaking up the sun and watching their favorite pro athletes in action. Attendees can also secure tickets for the Tennis Plays for Peace, featuring star athletes Rafael Nadal, John McEnroe, Coco Gauff, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Jessica Pegula, Matteo Berrettini and many more. Proceeds donated throughout the day will be directly sent to the Ukraine Humanitarian Relief fund.
