LL Cool J may have wrapped up his role on NCIS: Los Angeles on Sunday night, but Sam Hanna still lives when the actor/rapper joins the upcoming third season of NCIS: Hawai’i as a recurring guest star—and Parade has a sneak peek of his surprise cameo appearance from tonight’s episode. In case you missed it, check out the video.

LL Cool J is no stranger to NCIS: Hawai’i, having taken part earlier this season in the three-way NCIS crossover episodes, so he is familiar with its stars Vanessa Lachey, Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Jason Antoon and Tori Anderson.

“One of the most beautiful things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together,” said Lachey, who plays SAC Jane Tennant. “We have had so much fun spreading the aloha to NCIS and NCIS:LA with the triple crossover. Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process. Welcome to the ohana, Todd! It’s going to be a fun ride!🤙🏽.”

Sam was re-introduced to Hawai’i fans on the season 2 finale when Tennant and Kate Whistler (Anderson) are attacked under fire in Venezuela. They receive assistance from Hanna, who made his way over from Morocco to be their overwatch.

“All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ohana [the Hawaiian word for family] for season three,” said executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber.
