One of the worst parts about loving a brand’s special-edition product (that isn’t the OG item) is the constant worry that the brand could pull your favorite off the shelf. It happens all the time with Oreo flavors and even specific ingredients you use to make your favorite recipes. It’s even easier for a brand to quietly discontinue a seasonal product during its off-time.

But, if we’re lucky, those brands will listen to their customers and continue to bring the flavor back—even if just for a limited time. And today, Mountain Dew fans are quite lucky.

Mountain Dew announced it’s bringing back its fan-loved Halloween flavor for the fifth year in a row. Since 2019, Mountain Dew has sold its iconic VooDEW flavor during spooky season—and the tradition of bringing a new mystery flavor to shelves for Halloween will continue again this year.

Mountain Dew’s limited-edition VooDEW will return to shelves starting September 12, when you’ll have the opportunity to guess this year’s mystery flavor. Want a hint? Mountain Dew says 2023’s VooDEW flavor “might remind Halloween lovers of a very particular beloved trick or treat candy.”

Remember, the fan-favorite cloudy white Mountain Dew mystery soda combines Mountain Dew’s classic citrus flavor with the flavor of a Halloween treat. The previous flavors have included candy corn, fruit candy explosion, fruit chew candy, and sour candy, so start thinking about your favorite trick-or-treating snacks to guess this year’s VooDEW flavor.

And do so before Halloween because Mountain Dew normally sends its VooDEW mascot, VooDewGrim, to reveal the mystery flavor on October 31.

Mountain Dew VooDEW will also return with its counterpart, Mountain Dew VooDEW Zero Sugar, which is making its second annual appearance. You’ll find both varieties at all major retailers and convenience stores nationwide in 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce 12-packs.

If you weren’t already in the spooky season mood, we hope this news just got you a little more amped for Halloween this year—we know it got us excited to grab some Halloween treats.
