Fan Created Makeup Look Inspired by “American Horror Story: Apocalypse”

The much anticipated, and most likely terrifying, new chapter of American Horror Story is nearly here. While we continue to decode the recently released teaser for more clues, one fan from France has used the show as a means of makeup inspiration.

Twitter user Marina Duhamel used the color scheme, and even the insects, that appeared in the most recent American Horror Story: Apocalypse clip as her jumping off point for a makeup look. She shared the look on Twitter, which quickly received the support of others, who called it "amazing."

Marina told Teen Vogue that she used the themes of the new season as her inspiration, noting that the black and white on her cheeks is meant to pay homage to the scorpions from the trailer. She also drew two upside down crosses on her cheeks to represent the possible inclusion of an antichrist in the upcoming season.

This was the first time that the AHS fan had ever really done a makeup look quite this intensive, but she "felt so inspired by this season." She detailed her routine for Teen Vogue, saying, "I used a lot of Sugarpill's Love+ eyeshadow, some black eyeshadow (Kat Von D's Shade +and Light palette) to deepen, and Lime Crime's Diamond Dew in the shade Chameleon for the glitters on my eyes. I also used black and white eyeliner (from StarGazer) for the upside down crosses and Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid lipstick in the shade Vampira on my lips."

She didn't find the look too difficult to create, saying, "I just created some shadows on certain parts of my face and eyes with the red eye shadow, and then deepened the color with some black eyeshadow." She also noted that others can create similar looks at home just by having fun. "Play with colors and let your mind speak," she said. "If you have an idea, try it. It's okay if it doesn't work the first time, practice is what is going to make you progress. Never put an end to your imagination."
