How To Make the Famous Tom Cruise Coconut Cake at Home

Have you heard about Tom Cruise's favorite cake....the one he gifts to his close friends during the holidays? The famous White Chocolate Coconut cake is sold at Doan's Bakery, a family-owned shop in California and it's been causing quite the case of the FOMOs for anyone not on Cruise's list.

Doan's is known to fill hundreds of orders for this irresistible treat which is sold and shipped nationwide through Goldbelly for a whopping $125.95! Even with free shipping that’s a steep price to pay for a cake, unless of course, you're Tom Cruise with deep pockets.

Here at Parade.com, we're all about sharing products we love with our audience. When you make a purchase on an item seen on this page, we may earn a commission, however, all picks are independently chosen unless otherwise mentioned.

I've been on a mission to find out what makes this cake so special since the first time I saw it on Rosie O'Donnell's Instagram. The beautifully packaged coconut cake was so stunning and it hadn't even been removed from the box.

Since, like Brooke Shields, I’m currently not on Cruise's holiday gifting list, (although maybe this post will change his mind!) and the steep price tag is not in my dessert budget (yes, I have a budget for sweet things), I did what I do best and went to work at making a copycat version of the cake for myself.

Why You'll Love White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake

Goldbelly describes the sweet treat as "a delicious, pillowy cake good enough to derail the strictest Hollywood diets," and I concur. The white chocolate coconut combination is beyond decadent and worth every caloric bite in my opinion.

What Is the Tom Cruise Christmas Cake?

The cake base is a buttery sour cream pound cake with strong hints of coconut and pockets of white chocolate throughout. If that isn't enough to tempt your taste buds, the entire cake is covered in coconut cream cheese frosting and toasted coconut flakes. I'm telling you, this cake is a must-try for coconut fans this summer!

If you still need more convincing, maybe this interview with Tom Hanks on a recent episode of Mythical Kitchen's series, "Last Meals," will convince you. I have to agree with Hanks who exclaims how  "off-the-scale fantastic" the cake is. Seems like he might be one of the lucky recipients of said cake on Cruise's holiday gifting list.
