  • Rapper Fat Joe met Bill Clinton during the latter's Clinton Global Initiative meeting earlier this week

  • The rapper presented the former president with a pair of rare sneakers

  • He also noted that Clinton was "an honorary member of the squad"

This week, rapper Joseph "Fat Joe" Cartagena gave former president William Jefferson Clinton a pair of Terror Squad x Nike Air Force 1 Lows and declared the 42nd President of the United States an honorary member of the Terror Squad.

Alright, take a second. Read that back again. Go ahead and just read all of that back again. Try and grapple with it. Because we're going to get into more detail here, but we cannot promise to make it make any more sense than it does already.

According to Billboard, Fat Joe attended the Clinton Global Initiative meeting from September 18-20. In a one-on-one moment with the former president, Fat Joe presented Clinton with the sneakers, initially created "exclusive for Fat Joe’s friend and family," but have since been made available to the public.

While presenting the shoes to Clinton, Joe expressed his gratitude to the former president for his years of service. "I love you so much, man. So many years you fought for the people, and we love you," Joe is heard saying in the video. He's also asked by a figure off-camera, "Does that make him an honorary member of the squad?" to which Joe answers in the affirmative.

And lest you think Clinton merely acknowledged the shoes and moved on, as some other world leaders might have, Joe later took to Instagram to show that Clinton actually did wear the highly sought-after sneakers:

The pairing of Fat Joe and Bill Clinton might seem random to you, but we'd like to posit that it's the perfect pairing. Seriously, consider the way both Fat Joe and Bill Clinton's careers mirror each other:

Summer 1993: Despite all haters and doubters, Fat Joe releases his first significant artistic achievement, his debut album Represent. A month later, despite fierce Republican opposition, Clinton signed his first major legislative achievement, the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993.

October 1995: A historic collaboration occurs between Fat Joe and fellow New York rapper Big Pun on the latter's debut song, "Watch Out," from Joe's second album, Jealous One's Envy. This same month, a historic collaboration occurred between U.S. President Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin to discuss reducing nuclear materials and arms at the FDR home in Hyde Park, New York.

Late 1998: In September 1998, Fat Joe faced legal trouble when he was arrested on assault charges. In December of that same year, Clinton faced legal trouble when the House voted to impeach the president on four articles of impeachment, including perjury.

February 2005: At the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, Fat Joe is nominated for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group as part of Terror Squad for the iconic single "Lean Back." That same night, Clinton won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for the audiobook of his memoir, My Life.

We rest our case.
