The information highway that is TikTok has #blessed us with so much beauty knowledge; where else would we discover the best under-$10 wax stick for slicked-back buns, how to face tape, or what viral blushes are actually worth it? Beauty products often go viral on TikTok thanks to creators candidly showing dramatic before-and-after shots, but rarely does a single product reach hundreds of millions of views—until Covergirl’s Skin Perfector Essence Foundation, that is.
Covergirl’s Skin Perfector Essence Foundation is a serum-style foundation that has skincare built into it. It contains tranexamic acid, an ingredient used to combat hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone, bakuchiol (aka, the natural alternative to retinol), and s a super high water content to help apply and retain moisture. Available in eight shades ranging from fair to deep, its key feature is that it keeps skin hydrated for up to 24 hours, per the brand. TikTokers have been all over this foundation since it launched earlier this year. User @monetmcmichael said that the formula blew her mind and gives you a “filtered look”; her demonstration of how to apply and blend the foundation has racked up 59.3 million views. TikTok foundation queen @meredithduxbury also featured the product in a “Get Ready With Me” video that has a whopping 99.2 million views. In it, she shows off the foundation’s capabilities in a quick before-and-after and even claims her skin “has never looked this good.” There are hundreds (if not thousands!) more videos of people showing off the foundation’s watery texture, smooth application, and glowy finish.
It’s not just TikTok hype, though. Over on Amazon, customers are over the moon for the foundation, with more than 1,000 people purchasing the product in the last month, per the website. One reviewer admitted they were “skeptical” of the foundation, but loved that it gave “great coverage in the most natural way possible.” “When it dried it felt like nothing at all, just my bare skin,” they said, adding that it “looked so beautiful and lasted all night.” Another person said that it’s “buildable,” “blurs pores,” and “evens out skin tone” while providing “hydration and glow” for a “no makeup makeup look.” A third fan who is a retired esthetician noted that it’s “feather light” and “does not settle into fine lines,” making it a good choice for most skin types.
