Family spends 5 hours sculpting realistic '67 Mustang out of snow, state trooper gives it a 'ticket'

After shoveling neighbors’ driveways, a family in northwest Nebraska decided to construct a replica of their 1967 Ford Mustang GTA entirely out of snow. The car was so realistic that a state trooper was inspired to give it a “ticket.”

Jason Blundell, a 43-year-old concrete plant manager, along with his two teenage children, spent five hours perfecting their ’67 Mustang, which would eventually catch the eye of Nebraska State Patrol Sgt. Mick Downing.

Sgt. Downing, who attends the same church as the family, was driving by when he spotted the perfectly crafted “snow pony.” He was so impressed by the craftsmanship that he filmed himself giving it a pretend tow notice, which he shared on the patrol’s social media.

To construct the snow car, Blundell and his 17-year-old daughter, Shelby, and his 15-year-old son, Spencer, employed a skid loader, concrete wood floats, shovels, ice scrapers and a squirt bottle. Spencer went as far as measuring their real Mustang to ensure the proportions were correct in their replica.

“We actually had somebody come by while we were building it and they thought we were burying somebody’s car,” Blundell told OANow.com.

While this is the family’s first experience going viral, thanks to the trooper sharing, this isn’t their first snow sculpture.

During spring blizzards, the family has built a number of 7-foot-tall Easter bunnies. After an October storm, they constructed a 6-foot-tall jack-o’-lantern, which they hollowed out, painted orange, and put a lit a candle in it. Once, they even built a giant toilet.

“The start of that was to get my kids off their cellphones for a day,” Blundell told the outlet. “Normally, we don’t do much with [the sculptures]. We just take a couple pictures of them for ourselves. It just happened that our state trooper buddy came up to do a joke, and it blew up.”

Sgt. Downing didn’t bother finishing the paperwork for the tow notice as, as he put it, it was “parked just fine.”
