Family of 89-Year-Old Korean War Veteran Makes Plea to Find His Beloved Emotional Support Dog

Losing a beloved pet is a heartbreaking experience, but the situation becomes even more distressing when it involves an 89-year-old Korean war veteran and his emotional support dog, who has gone missing. The dog's owner, Bernie Dolly, had taken Otto’s leash off in the garage bringing him in from a walk, when Bernie’s cane accidentally hit the garage door opener. Otto escaped out of the garage and he hasn't been seen since. The dog was lost in Bridgeview, Illinois, and Dolly's daughter, Deb Deel, says her elderly father is devastated.

"Otto is registered as an emotional support dog,” Deel said. “He was the only reason my elderly father got up in the morning.”

Facebook users are so sad for this war veteran and Otto, and @maria comments, "Prayers this baby finds his way home." @Donna adds, "Ugh this is so sad. I hope he’s found and is ok." @Carolyn replies, "Prayers for beautiful pup's safe return."

According to Patch.com, since Otto went missing, Deel and her family have done everything they can to bring Otto home. Otto’s microchip is up to date, and he is still intact. He has a long tan and white coat with a black mane. Deel thinks because of the storm, that whoever has Otto may have had him shaved.

If you’ve seen Otto, or know who has him, please email bringottohome@gmail.com. Arrangements can be made to return Otto – no questions asked. You may also contact Patch by emailing lorraine.swanson@patch.com.

We hope this beloved dog is returned to his owner safe and sound. We can't imagine the pain this poor family is going through.
