Family With 14 Boys Finally Has a Girl — And They Are Over the Moon
Kateri and Jay Schwandt never saw this coming. The Michigan couple are parents to 14 boys ranging from 2 and a half to 28 years old — Tyler, Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinny, Calvan, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, Tucker, Francisco and Finley. November 5, 2020 is a day the pair will likely never forget; the day they welcomed their 15th child and first baby girl, Maggie Jayne, into the world.

Jay shared with the Detroit Free Press that “This year has been memorable in so many ways, for so many reasons” adding that “Maggie is the greatest gift we could ever imagine.” Maggie weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz. Her name is a combination of her mother’s middle name, Margaret, and her father’s first name.
The family are certainly no rookies to media attention. They even have a live streaming show called the 14 Outdoorsmen centered around their full house of boys and love of the outdoors.
The Schwandts likely never expected this — Kateri told MLive in 2014 “If we were to have a girl, I think we would go into shock.” Even their eldest son Tyler still can’t believe it, sharing with the Detroit Free Press “I still haven’t quite wrapped my head around it.”
We cannot wait to hear how the Kateri and Jay Schwandt experience parenting through their first girl after raising so many boys.
