Fallout Showrunner Is Already Talking About Multiple Seasons

The showrunner for Amazon’s Fallout TV series is already mulling the idea of multiple seasons in a bid to do 25 years’ worth of lore justice.

Speaking as part of a round-table interview reported by Collider, Graham Wagner said that the team has “barely scratched the surface” and they didn’t want to overwhelm viewers with too much backstory.

When asked if the team had plans for more episodes beyond Season 1, he answered, “We do. We really do. I don't know how to talk about it, but I just want to assure you that we definitely do.”

"I feel like we barely scratched the surface of what we even wanted to do in Season 1, so there's so much more to do,” he added.

“I think a lot about the craziness of Fallout, and if we were just to confront everybody with it all at once, it would just be like tuning into Season 7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, like, 'There's a demon on the couch, and he's just talking about a breakup. What is going on?' You know? It's too much. So, we really are taking our time with this, and we really are stepping it up.

“Though, I think, at the same time, a whole lot of s*** happens in the very first two episodes. So, it's both crazy from a narrative perspective, but from a Fallout perspective we're taking it very slow, and we're being patient because we have so much more to do."

Fallout focuses on three main characters over its eight episodes, the first being a vault-dweller experiencing the post-apocalyptic world for the first time - a role very similar to anyone who has played the last two mainline Fallout games.

Then there’s a naive recruit to the Brotherhood of Steel, which again, is a faction that players can align themselves to during the main games of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. finally, there’s The Ghoul, played by Walton Goggins, a radiation-torched mutant bounty hunter, who’s spent years in the open. He sounds very similar to a companion called John Hancock from Fallout 4.

Fallout the show will stream on Amazon Prime Video April 12, 2024.
