It’s fair to say you’ve officially made it once you’ve been dubbed the Beyoncé of Japan. Not that that’s slowed down Naomi Watanabe any. The 34-year-old multi-hyphenate (she’s a comedian, actor, social media star, and fashion designer) recently moved from Tokyo to NYC and launched a podcast, Naomi Takes America, in which fans (she has nearly 10 million of them on IG) call in to give her pointers on life in the U.S. Her hot takes on American culture are as insightful as they are hilarious. And her signature bright and bold beauty vibe? Not only is it trending—ICYMI, statement-making makeup, hair, and nail looks are having a major moment—it’s perfect for your next vacation. Because truly, what better time to shake things up and experiment with your look than when you’re around a bunch of strangers? So go ahead and follow Naomi’s lead. Below, she models the season’s must-try looks—and lucky for you, we’re sharing the tips and tricks for making them your own too.

Traditional color theory says that primary colors—red, yellow, and blue—are the basis for all aesthetically pleasing art, which explains why this ultra-vibrant makeup looks so damn good. The secret to keeping it chic and not clownish? Forgo shiny and glossy finishes and use all matte textures instead.

Traveling pretty much anywhere means you can skip the same old neutral shades you use at home and commit to a palette full of icy blues, greens, grays, and pinks. First, prep your lids with an eyeshadow primer (it’ll amplify whatever colors you layer on top and increase their wear time too). Then line your eyes with a black eyeliner pencil, mix and match shadow colors to create a watercolor effect on your lids, and layer on two coats of mascara to finish it off.

So what we’re (obviously) saying is that vacation glam deserves to make a statement, and this matchy look does exactly that. Swipe a pink multiuse cream pigment over your lids, lips, and cheeks, spray temporary color onto your hair, and use a set of ombré press-on nails for your manicure.

Forget floating crease liner—full-face line work is *the* look of the moment, and it’s surprisingly easy to re-create on your own. Use a gel liner (the brighter the color, the better) and ultra-fine eyeliner brush to draw a cat eye on one eye and then extend the line in opposite directions all the way to the top and bottom of your face. Dab a little face gloss over your lips and you’re good to go.
