As Fall Approaches, Homecourt Founder Courteney Cox Shares Her Home Essentials
Courtney Cox and her beloved Friends character Monica certainly have one thing in common—a love for cleaning. “An empty drawer is one of my favorite things,” says Cox. She prefers a clutter free household void of anything haphazard. Clean, simple, and polished is what the actress wants out of every space in her home. That’s what ultimately ignited Homecourt, Cox’s very own “homecare” brand, a term she defines as “the practice of tending to one’s place with pleasure." Each and every product is curated not only for the purpose of caring for the home properly but caring for the home with joy. One of Cox’s favorite products to use in the kitchen, Homecourt’s steeped rose dish soap, achieves just that. “As you're using the dish soap, it smells so good that it makes this thing that we all have to do pleasurable,” says Cox.
For the fall, the actress-turned-entrepreneur likes to keep things in her household simple uniform. She keeps her bed tucked and tidy with clean white sheets and her couch covered with a sofa covering, acashmere blanket and linen pillows as throw decorations. Tables are clad with a few coffee table books and coasters, and, of course, a candle. What’s a cozy fall evening without a burning bougie? Rest-assured, if you were ever to walk into the businesswoman's household in the fall you’ll be greeted to organized coziness. “I like curated clutter,” says the actress. “If I don't love it, I don't want it.” Read on for her suggestions!
1) Steeped Rose Dish Soap
Homecourt’s steeped rose dish soap is a must-have in Cox’s kitchen. This fragrant dish soap gives dishes a powerful clean while still being skin-safe. The secret: plant derived surfactants to get the grease and grime off your plates while making your hands silky soft and protected with the help of glycerin.
2) Vincent Van Duysen Coffee Table Book
Vincent Van Duysen
In search of a coffee table book that meets Cox's high standards? Try one featuring the famed architect, Vincent Van Duysen— like this one which features his work chronologically. It fits beautifully in any home and Courtney tells us her Van Duysen tome is one of her favor decor items on her coffee table.
3) Cece Candle
“Oh my god. I'm obsessed with candles and now I've created a candle with a vessel I love. I don't like labels, it really bugs me to see what I don't want to know — so I’ve made it discreet and it's on the bottom. And of course I have the CeCe set, which is something I created. It’s inspired by the perfume that I wear.”
4) Tahoe Cashmere Throw
A seasonal decor tip: swap your blankets and pillows. “I change the pillows out all the time and yes, I change the blankets out because in the summer I might have a linen blanket and in the winter I would have a cashmere blanket. I change the books out because that can change the way something looks. I definitely like to switch things around.” Our suggestion? Try the cashmere throw from Jenni Kayne, one of Cox’s favorite brands.
5) Neat Smoke Coolers Set of 6
Everything needs to have a polished look in Cox’s home and that includes the dishes. “CB2 has really great basic glasses,” says Cox. These CB2 Neat Smoke Glasses have the clean and sophisticated that Cox loves for her home.
6) Ciba cashmere turtleneck sweater
A new season means new knits. “The Row makes great cashmere pieces, I don’t know how they do it but it doesn’t hurt and you can keep it forever. There’s this one cashmere piece from there that I’ve had for 10 years.” This green cashmere sweater from The Row will keep you warm and cozy this fall and, as Cox said, is definitely made to last.
7) Cipres Mint Hand Cream
“This lotion is great after you wash your hands. I think it has a very all year round element to it. I always need hydration, but especially when it gets a little colder and drier, I love using this hand cream.”
8) Rose Flower Water
In search of a small tweak to spruce up your bedroom? Make like Courtney and fashion your own linen spritz with rose water. “There's this rose water that I mix with regular water and if you put it in a bottle and spray it on your sheets, it actually makes your sheets look like they’ve been pressed.”
9) Linen Tissue Box Cover
Another excellent tip from the Homecourt founder is to upgrade the mundane. For example, tissue boxes...“You know if there's going to be a tissue box, I would put a linen cover around it. Whatever the item is, I want it to look beautiful, not like something I want to put in a drawer.” Add this linen box cover to make a simple item a little more pleasing to the eye.
10) Maier Nonstick Pan Cleaning Brush
In keeping with her neutral and aesthetic vibe, the Homecourt founder prefers a wooden cleaning brush for her dishes as opposed to the traditional sponges you may find at the supermarket.
“I like certain cleaning supplies, and I like a beautiful wooden brush. I’m really weird about cleaning stuff because I don’t want things that I have to hide,”says Cox. Bonus: the wooden version is pretty to look at too.
