A batch of oxycodone pills, a drug prescribed to treat severe pain, has been found by Tennessee officers to be tainted.

The pills were found during a recent traffic stop, and were recovered by police officers, who then tested the 30 milligram pills for drug content. To their surprise, these capsules were counterfeit.

According to WBIR, “They were the same size and featured the signature A/215 stamp characteristic of oxycodone, but an analysis showed the pills contained fentanyl, a pain killer 50 times as potent as heroin that can be deadly in high doses.”

Officers expressed their concerns about the ongoing drug overdose problem in Tennessee, stating they would rather people seek help for their drug issues, than find illegal ways to get their hands on drugs.

“It might look convenient to order medicines from home, but it’s not a safe alternative because you have no assurance of the quality or the actual ingredients,“said Tommy Farmer, TBI Special Agent-in-Charge and Director of the Tennessee Methamphetamine and Pharmaceutical Task Force.
