Considering cutting bangs? Put. Down. The. Scissors.

Before you make such a life-altering commitment, why not take bangs for a test drive? In this episode of Pretty Beautiful, video producer Lisa Azcona demonstrates a fake bang hack that won’t give you scissor-related remorse.

“I got real bangs when I was 11 years old, and let’s just say I would never commit to it again,” Azcona says in the video. “It was so hard to maintain. So I’m so excited that there’s no scissors involved in this hack.”

To get fake bangs, put your hair up in a high ponytail with an elastic and split your hair into two sections. Bring one section forward to the top of your forehead. Using the end of this sectioned piece as your fake bang, decide what length bangs you want, and then use another elastic to secure the extra hair at the back to the remaining section. What you’re left with is fake bangs, a small messy bun and a long ponytail.

Now, wrap the ponytail portion around the bun, and secure with a bobbie pin. Then, use a flat iron to touch up the fake bang portion, making it look more realistic. Finally, add a headband to bring the look together — and hide the fact that those bangs are indeed fake.

“This came out better than I expected, but it definitely wasn’t the easiest hack,” Lisa says while showing off her new look. “The hardest part was the messy bun. You are going to need a lot of bobbie pins to make it look nice.”

But, let’s be honest: This look (sans the remorse) is worth the trouble.
