The holidays can be pretty hectic—especially when it comes to planning a party or hosting houseguests. But Facebook just launched two new features that might make things a little easier (and more fun) for you and your family and friends this year.

Everyone loves Instagram’s Stories, and Facebook added a similar “Story” feature to its platform earlier this year. It’s a great way to let loved ones know what you’re up to and share memories in real-time. Now, Facebook is letting users post stories for events made on the platform. Only those who are connected to the event—those who marked they were attending or interested in attending—will be able to view the story. Like other Stories, it will be available to view for 24 hours. This makes it fun if you’re inviting friends over for an Ugly Sweater Party or hosting family for Thanksgiving dinner through Facebook—just ask them to share photos and moments that others might have missed.

Facebook also launched the Facebook Local app, so you can show visitors the best of what’s happening around town. You’ll be able to see local events, restaurants, services, and local businesses—all highly recommended by trusted people, like your Facebook friends—on the standalone app.

These two new features launch today for iOS and Android devices.
