In the background of Emily Ratajkowsi’s Instagram story this July were the unmistakable firehouse red walls of Positano’s most famous hotel: Le Sirenuse.

The boutique hotel first opened in 1951, when four siblings decided to turn their family summer home into a lavish, intimate getaway. Since then, it’s been enchanting guests with its colorful interiors, mosaic floors, leafy plants, and stunning cliffside views of the town and Tyrrhenian sea. Its restaurant, La Sponda, is known to be one of the most romantic spots in the region—at night, it’s lit with 400 candles. It’s no surprise that Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi reportedly purposed to Princess Beatrice of York here, or that Reese Witherspoon visited as a newlywed with husband Jim Toth.

Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Côte d’Azur

Ever since F. Scott Fitzgerald glamorized the “large, proud, rose-colored” Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Tender Is the Night, famous faces have flocked to the five-star French Riviera resort—especially during the area’s annual Cannes Film Festival and AmFar gala. This year, Bella Hadid and her boyfriend, Marc Kalman, were spotted lounging at their pool in between her statement-making red-carpet appearances.

An hour and a half away from the world capital of celebrity, Los Angeles, Rosewood Miramar Beach has long attracted guests of the rich and famous variety. This summer, Kourtney Kardashian and her new beau stopped by, as did comedian Chelsea Handler for a girl’s trip.
