Problem: Forever asking myself, “Should I just pack one of every cable?” or just risk the possibility of running out of battery for something.

Solution: The Smartish Crown Joule is not only longer and more durable than the charging cables I was previously using, but it's also much more versatile since it supports fast charging for Micro USB, USB-C, and Lightning powered devices.

A charging cable is a product you’ll buy for two main reasons: Your old one is broken or it’s missing. I think that it’s always good to have an extra one or two charging cables around, so you have one at the ready when you need it, especially for those days when your smartphone dies faster than normal.

I recently invested in a new charger from Smartish, and folks, it’s a winner, and I wish I would’ve gotten one sooner.

Trust me, I know cables aren’t the most exciting products, but the Smartish Crown Joule has a few tricks up its sleeve. Technically, it’s a 6-foot-long Micro USB cable, but unlike your run-of-the-mill cable, this one has an adapter attached at its end that turns it into a USB-C or Lightning cable — so it’ll have you covered for all your charging needs.

I can easily switch between charging my Apple devices, headphones, and Bluetooth speakers with just a single cable. I especially like using it when I travel and need to plug my smartphone into a rental car's infotainment system for music or directions.

Besides being twice as long as the cable that came with my iPhone, I also love the fact that it's much more durable. The cable is reinforced and wrapped in fabric to help prevent fraying and tangling.

I didn't intentionally strength-test the cable but unintentionally went through the wringer with my robot vacuum, and it survived, coming out completely unscathed. It's even backed by a lifetime warranty, giving me even more peace of mind.

The Crown Joule isn't the first 3-in-1 cable I've used, but it's the best I've ever owned by far. Compared to the Anker Powerline II, it feels sturdier and more premium since the Anker has mostly plastic components. I also like that it has some additional slack to reach faraway outlets (the Anker is only 3 feet long). Oh yeah, and it comes in four bright colors, making it harder to lose.

To top things off, the Crown Joule has been fully vetted by Apple, similar to the Powerline II cable. It has MFi certification, which stands for “Made for iPod, iPhone, and iPad.” Basically, it’s a program that ensures accessory makers use Apple-approved safe parts when manufacturing them.

Really, my only complaint about the cable is that I wish it had some sort of a cable tie to make it easier to compress and fold up. Overall, it’s a solid, reasonably priced, and reliable cable that I wholeheartedly endorse.

Wrap Up: The Crown Joule has made it so I can pack fewer charging cables when I travel, but more importantly, it keeps my gear charged up and ready to go thanks to its generous length, durable build quality, and universal compatibility.
