This Eyelash Serum Gave Me Legit Baby Doll-Level Lashes
During the early days of quarantine, when friends were baking their sixth loaf of focaccia or securing the 500th piece of a puzzle, I was mostly just breaking new records with my phone's screen-time report. And it was deep within this social-media hole one night that I found stumbled across some before-and-after photos of a lash-growth serum called Dr. Lara Devgan Platinum Long Lash.
It was perfect timing, because at that point, I had the mental capacity for exactly one project, and one project only: making my stubby eyelashes look, like, a millimeter longer. Even though I had tried—and been mostly unimpressed by—eyelash serums in the past, I was also stuck at home with zero energy to apply makeup on the regular.
In Normal Times, I might’ve treated myself to a set of lash extensions (which I usually do once or twice a year), but these were not Normal Times. And so I caved to the Instagram hype and bought the serum, fully expecting it to end up in my product graveyard like the rest of my ill-fated purchases.
...Cut to me six months later, writing this love letter to the only eyelash serum that actually made my lashes look noticeably better, and why I won't stop talking about it to every friend who doesn't ask.

The need-to-know deets
So as we at Cosmo have talked about again and again (and again), most over-the-counter eyelash serums don't/can't/won't grow your eyelashes. Sry. The only lash serum FDA-approved to grow your lashes is Latisse, and you need a prescription to get it. Instead, the majority of lash serums are actually lash conditioners that can help strengthen lashes and even make 'em swell a bit to give the illusion of thickness. Basically, they make it a healthier environment for your natural lashes to grow.
According to Dr. Devgan’s website, this serum works similarly by using skin-soothing ingredients like vitamin B5, clover flower extract, and peptides to nourish the lash line and encourage healthy lash growth. You just trace it along the base of your lashes once or twice a day (the brand says it's safe to use while wearing contacts, FYI), let it dry, and live your life. FYI: Each tube lasts about two months with daily use—so, fine, not exactly budget-friendly, but hey, I haven't eaten at a restaurant in 10 months, so let me live.
My results
Within the first four weeks of daily use—once in the morning, and again at night—I started to notice that my lashes looked ever-so subtly...better. Longer? Thicker? Plumper? All three? Hard to tell. But when I did put on mascara, I noticed the effect was much more dramatic than before I started using the serum.
I also started dabbing it along the weirdly bare spot in my left eyebrow (the result of an overly enthusiastic plucking session several years ago), and within about five weeks, the spot had filled in enough to the point where it no longer bothered me or required as much covering up with a brow pencil when I did wear makeup.
True to what the brand promised, it took about six months (three tubes) for my lashes to get to true, wow-they’re-so-long lengths. And now when I put on mascara, the look is almost too intense for every day…but also kind of perfect for that extra little bit of polish for Zoom life. Basically, I'm obsessed—and, more importantly, confused?!
Listen, there's really nothing in the ingredients list of this serum that should have given me such dramatically good results. It's totally possible that my eyelids and lash lines weren't in an ~optimal~ place for good lash growth before (maybe they were lowkey dry, irritated, inflamed, etc.), and this serum might have been the soothing key they needed to really thrive. Or, you know, maybe the tube is actually just filled with pure magic. The world may never know.
Final thoughts
I know it's pricey, but it def costs less than the set of extensions I've been craving all year. And even if I do get another set of extensions one day, I’ll honestly still keep using this, since it can help keep your lashes strong and minimize how easily they fall out (which is a major plus if you've got extensions).
