Is it an Eye or Is it a Lip? Instagram's Newest Trend Will Have You Second Guessing Yourself

Halloween may be over, but out-of-the-box makeup looks are still alive and well on Instagram—namely, “eye lips.” Relatively self-explanatory, the trend involves creating a life-like eye—fake lashes and some of the best cat’s eyes you’ve ever seen included—across your mouth for a show-stopping look (whether it’s a positive or negative one is up to you).

As Bustle reports, Diana Moisa, a Copenhagen-based MAC Cosmetics resident trainer, began the trend when deciding to try her own luck at a Jenna Marbles–inspired video where she used face paint to draw a “third eye” across her mouth. Moisa’s result was nothing short of jaw-dropping (using only MAC products, of course) and instantly started a trend on Instagram.
