Breegan Jane isn't just one of the star designers on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition; she's also a writer, a mother, a philanthropist, and so much more. Her fun, bubbly personality comes out in everything she does, and it's hard not to spot her in a crowd with her standout outfits and charming smile. Currently she's tackling a handful of residential projects, (including this luxe Bel Air estate), but she always has her eye on what's next. And Jane's biggest goal for 2020? "I want to focus on making my designs attainable to everybody! Not just the clients that can afford my services," she tells House Beautiful. Now that's an attitude we can get behind! Breegan Jane is a woman of many talents. Here are 10 things you might not know about her.

She's a single mom.

Jane lives in the greater Los Angeles area with her two sons, Kingsley and Kensington. She tells us that one of her biggest challenges in life was her divorce, which left her as a single mom. However, as she explains on her blog, Jane takes each experience thrown at her as a teaching moment. While her boys may not grow up in a two-parent household, she explains, "I am careful to ensure that love is plentiful in their lives, and that it is clearly seen and experienced in a variety of ways." The designer spreads that love around, too: She's an active member of Single Moms Planet, a mentoring organization for single mothers in poverty. Jane appears to be unattached, at the moment, but has opened up about her trek back into the dating world as a single mom.

She's a writer.

On her extensive lifestyle blog, BreeganJane.com, Jane shares lifestyle and design tips and tricks, causes she supports, as well as penning some heartfelt posts about motherhood and divorce. But that's not all she's written—the mother-of-two is also a published children's author. Her book, Carbie, tells the tale of a "a shy but sweet piece of coal who eventually blossoms into a shining diamond after struggling in a difficult place."

Her favorite holiday is Cinco De Mayo.

Jane's favorite holiday is no other than Cinco De Mayo (psst psst... try these Pinata cookies!). However, "not for all the cliché LA reasons," she explains but "because it’s the last time Europe invaded the [Mexican] states. It was won by people fighting a good fight. They were unprepared... moms with kitchen pans and knives." Jane can always get behind a pack of powerful women fighting for a cause they're passionate about. Plus, tacos!

She's a total feminist.

Jane is a total #girlboss and doesn't need any help raising her sons or running her business, Breegan Jane LLC. She's all for lifting up and supporting other women. In particular, Jane is passionate about helping women and young girls in Africa reach their full potential. On Instagram, she often shows off her colorful hand-made Kenyan jewelry made by the woman of the Maasai tribe.

She can't stand furry pillows.

You'll never find a furry pillow in Jane's home. "I’m over furry pillows!" she says." I had them and used them for clients, but they don’t age well so I have gone back into client’s homes and moved them out."

She loves antiques.

"I love antique stores," Jane says. Her go-to shop Wertz Bros. in Santa Monica. "It’s organized and not too messy so I can always find that extra special piece I need."

She started as a fashion designer.

"I have always been designing things," Jane says. She started as a fashion designer, which explains her fabulous sense of style, and even opened her own clothing store. Her entrepreneurial, creative spirit has always driven her to try new things, but at one point, " I got an opportunity to do someone’s home and that was when it clicked." Jane even offers some advice to aspiring designers "If you feel it’s your path, don’t be afraid to try other areas in the creative world. Pick a room, pick a friend’s house, and just go for it."

She's secretly a DJ.

Jane is one hip mama—she even has a turntable in her home. That's pretty fresh if you ask us!

She's a philanthropist.

Jane's passion to help others goes far beyond her work on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. On her blog, she has a section dedicated entirely to her philanthropic work, as well as raising awareness for causes she's passionate about. Jane has worked with World Vision and Union Rescue Mission, and supported organizations such as Charity: water and No Kid Hungry. Kenya holds a special place in the designer's heart, and she's working to eradicate female genital mutilation.

She loves wearing bold, colorful styles.

Jane is always rocking a colorful ensemble. She calls her fashion style "bold and lazy"—but without actually looking lazy. She explains: " I usually do a one-piece and then add in jewelry to make it work."
