WACKADOO! Bluey stormed its way into our homes in the United States in 2019, and has been a staple for parents and children alike ever since. The adorable Heeler family has been the source of many life lessons not only for children but parents alike. To know the Heelers is to absolutely love them.

All of season 3's episodes are not only now out on Disney+, but they are also airing now on Disney Junior and Disney Channel.

What is getting a lot of attention, though, is the first-ever extended Bluey special—which aired on April 14. The 28-minute episode called "The Sign" was the first episode to air around the world on the same day.

It was preceded by another new (standard-length) episode called "Ghostbasket," which premiered on April 7. But some fans online are wondering if all of this is a sign of what's to come for the Heelers.

But you can officially put the rumors to rest. Show Producer Sam Moor told BBC Radio 4 that the show is definitely returning. When Moor was asked about the future of the show she replied, "It is the question on everybody's lips. No, it is not the end for Bluey. I'm sure we have many more surprises in store for you."

Fans can now exhale.

What is Bluey About?

If you happen to live under a rock, Bluey is an animated series that follows the adorable adventures of Bluey Heeler, her younger sister Bingo, and their Mum (Chilli) and Dad (Bandit). Each episode of the show is between seven and nine minutes long and not only promotes creativity and imagination but also lessons on teamwork, communication, and the importance of family.

So you can see why a 28-minute-long special is such a big deal!

Though the show is geared toward the preschool age group, older kids (mine included) and parents alike have fallen in love with the family due to its relatability. The show sometimes tackles difficult subjects such as miscarriage—but also friendship, staying true to yourself, and much more, all in ways that are easily digestible for children and tug on the heartstrings of parents. I have never cried so much watching a preschool cartoon (but in the best ways).

Why Did Fans Think 'Bluey' Was Ending?

When the special was announced, many fans were speculating the series was coming to an end. Part of it was that the Bluey special episode, “The Sign,” is the longest one yet. It is also reportedly the only episode not to use music during the closing credits.

But it was when some of the footage from "The Sign" was supposedly "leaked" on social media that got people talking. With the clips going around, fans were wondering if BBC Studios and Ludo Studios may be ending the series for good.

This is not the first time that the show has been rumored to be ending with the creators taking to social media back in 2022 to ensure fans that if there is something they need to know, they will hear it directly from them first… “for real life."

Most of the supposed leaked clips have been removed from various social media platforms but I did search and find two of the supposed leaks. One is completely in French so it's not even possible for me to explain what it could or could not mean.

It appears to be Bandit acting as a realtor and showing Chilli the Heeler home "for sale." The second of the leaked clips shows a flash forward of an adult Bluey visiting her parents at home with someone who we can assume to be her child.

In my opinion? Neither of these clips is enough to prove anything! We have seen time jumps in multiple Bluey episodes before so them showing a future Bluey could simply be adding to the lesson in one of the episodes.

If the Heelers are selling their home, a time jump could be happening in the middle of the episode as a way of Bluey trying to convince her parents not to do so so that her children also have memories in that home. It literally could mean anything and I don't necessarily think it means the end. We're all getting way ahead of ourselves!

The writers have said in the past that after season three ends they will be taking a break, so you might as well sit back in your relaxing chair and take a break.

“We are just going to get our heads on a bit, it’s been four or five years and we’ve made 154 episodes, it is kind of unprecedented to do that back-to-back,” Bluey Executive producer Daley Pearson told Australia’s Courier Mail in a previous interview. “It was very intense. We are just coming to the end of season three and trying to think about what’s the best way to make it better.”

If we’ve learned nothing else from the Heelers it’s that "sometimes special people come into our lives. Then they have to go”.

We’ll be anxiously awaiting the announcement for season four and until then, catch us streaming Bluey repeatedly on Disney+ or glued to the Disney Channel.
