As many have learned in recent years, being a royal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Of course, it has its perks, but it sounds quite difficult as well, between the strict royal protocols and constant media attention. But for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids, it seems they also have to deal with an “intense” schooling experience on top of it all.

Managing editor of The Good Schools Guide Melanie Sanderson told Hello’s A Right Royal Podcast that the school Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis attend is “intense.”

“For the younger ones, for the six- and seven-year-olds, it’s a really long week,” Sanderson said, discussing how the Wales children have to undergo a six-day school week. That’s right, Saturday relaxation doesn’t exist for these kiddos.

For those that don’t know, Kate and William broke royal protocol and sent their kids to Lambrook. Typically, royal family members had to attend a boarding school, but the Prince and Princess of Wales opted for a co-ed school that all three of their kids could attend down the road from their Windsor home.

Now, why did Kate and William choose a school with a six-day school week for their kids? Well, Sanderson claims it’s because the school’s values line up with their own. “[Lambrook] does lots and lots of fundraising for the community,” Sanderson said. “They are very focused on making sure that their pupils understand how privileged they are. Everything we hear about Prince William and Princess Catherine indicates that that’s really important to them, too.”

She added, “They will have been very keen to choose a school for the three youngsters that was a very close fit with their own family values. And I think Lambrook really fits the bill.”

William and Kate share three children named George, 9, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5.
