It's time to return to Cousins Beach! The Summer I Turned Pretty is coming back for a second season this summer. The multigenerational drama, based on Jenny Han's bestselling book trilogy, was renewed prior to the show's debut in 2022.

“When I decided to adapt ‘Summer’ for television, I knew we’d need more than one season to honor the story we are telling,” Han told Variety at the time. “To receive a second season pickup ahead of the premiere of Season 1 is beyond my wildest dreams. I am so grateful to Amazon Studios for this amazing vote of confidence in our show, and cannot wait to bring our incredible team back together to tell the next chapter in our story.”

How did Season 1 of The Summer I Turned Pretty end?

SPOILERS: In the Season 1 finale, Belly attends the deb ball with Jeremiah. While Jeremiah is outside learning that his mother Susannah's cancer has returned, his brother Conrad—whom Belly has admittedly had a crush on "for like [her] whole life"—dances with her inside.

After finding out that his brother knew of their mom's cancer, Jeremiah punches Conrad at the event. While Susannah is reluctant to go through treatment again, explaining she wants "to be me when I go," her boys implore her to try a cancer treatment trial for them. In the kitchen with Laurel, Susannah reveals that she told her sons that she'd do the trial.

The episode ends with Belly and Conrad together at the beach. "I need you," he tells her. Belly informs Conrad that she wants him to want her, not need. "I do want you," he responds before kissing Belly. As the two kiss, Belly's voice is heard saying, "In this moment, I realized if this can happen, maybe anything can."

What will happen in Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty?

Prime Video revealed the titles of the eight episodes ("Love Lost," "Love Scene," "Love Sick," "Love Game," "Love Fool," "Love Fest," "Love Affair" and "Love Triangle") so fans could speculate which of their favorite storylines from Han’s book It’s Not Summer Without You will hit the small screen in Season 2.

According to Prime Video, while Belly "used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach," she is not sure summer will be the same with "Conrad and Jeremiah fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah's cancer." However, when "an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah's beloved house, Belly has to rally the gang to come together—and to decide once and for all where her heart lies."
