The Dryes are the next big thing to look out for in the world of country music. The husband-and-wife duo, made up of Derek and Kaitlyn Drye, won over the hearts of fans across the country during their stint on Team Blake during Season 22 of The Voice. The Dryes are currently on a Christmas tour around the South, the "Christmas With The Dryes Tour," playing their original Christmas singles "Why'd You Ruin Christmas"and "Christmas Is Callin'" on repeat along with other tracks from their impressive discography. Prior to hitting the road for their solo Christmas tour, The Dryes opened for Jo Dee Messina's "Heads Carolina, Tails California" tour in 2023.

"This year being on the Jo Dee tour, that was so out of the blue, so we're hoping we have some more fun out of the blue things like that and get on the road. We played so much this year and it's been great," Kaitlyn Dryes told Country Living.

Along with their touring aspirations, the Dryes are working hard to get new music out in 2024. They have an EP release planned for February and are shooting to release a full album in the late spring or early summer of 2024. "We're always working on new music, because with Spotify and all the socials and stuff, it's so easy to put out single after single. But, I think we're working toward a body of songs, maybe another EP," Derek said. The Dryes' success in the music industry has been a long time coming as they first moved to Nashville to more seriously pursue songwriting and music almost 10 years ago. Their fan base only increased as they proved themselves on The Voice.

Though they hail from Team Blake, ironically, one of their biggest inspirations in songwriting is Shelton's ex Miranda Lambert. Derek described The Dryes' style as: "Miranda Lambert, Eric Church meets John Mayer meets Stevie Ray Vaughan." Kaitlyn echoed the couple's admiration for the country queen saying, "Miranda's music is just so up our alley. The wittiness of her lyrics and she's just country and quirky. We grew up in the South so her music just speaks to us."

Although the duo draws inspiration from these country and blues icons, they describe their own unique music style as rowdy and nostalgic with an emphasis on Jesus. The Dryes bring an interesting perspective to the quintessential country love song, as they co-write their music as a couple who have been married for more than 12 years, whiile most of our favorite country songs about love and heartbreak are written from the single perspective of the artist.

Their song "House on Fire" highlights this unique perspective effortlessly with its raw and real lyrics, which in turn makes it The Dryes' favorite song to perform. "There's so much heart and soul of ours in it, and we wrote it the day after we had an argument. We try to write real songs about real life and not be a fairytale couple for people, we want to be real for people and say you know 'it's a choice everyday,' Kaitlyn said. "We can write songs that mean something to us but our hope is that it would mean something to somebody else. That's the biggest part of what we do."

If you're not already a fan of The Dryes, you should be. We can't to see what the duo will do next!
