LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN: Vision-impaired sprinter Timothée Adolphe has been revealed as the seventh and final athlete sponsored by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The para-athlete, who’s known as the “White Cheetah” for his on-track speed and agility, was also revealed as a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton, the luxury house and its parent group said Tuesday.

Adolphe, who specializes in 60-meter to 400-meter distances, will compete in the T11 categories for the upcoming 100-meter and 400-meter Paralympic events.

A silver medalist at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 and the 100 meters and 400-meter world champion in 2019, he holds the world record at 60 meters and the European one for 200 meters.

Named a knight of France’s Ordre National du Mérite in 2021, the French athlete was also bronze medalist in the 100-meter and 400-meter events at last year’s World Para Athletics Championships in Paris.

“By his determination and talent, he conquered the world of sport,” the French luxury house declared. “[He] will bring his contagious energy and his spirit of conquest to this collaboration, [while] his track record illustrates perfectly the values of excellence and daring dear to Louis Vuitton.”

Off the track Adolphe is a keen musician who released his first EP in June 2021, before following it up with a single after his experience at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

A long-term advocate for better access and autonomy for people with disabilities, he also developed the first inclusive multiplayer video game where sighted and visually impaired gamers can play together. The latter are guided by binaural audio that creates an immersive experience for in-game positioning.

Adolphe joins rugby player Antoine Dupont, swimmer Léon Marchand and fencer Enzo Lefort, who were previously tapped by Vuitton and LVMH.

A premium partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the luxury conglomerate has extended financial support to a cohort of Olympic and Paralympic athletes that includes gymnast Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos, wheelchair-tennis’ Pauline Déroulède and para-cyclist Marie Patouillet. The three are ambassadors for Dior.

In addition to this, further brands under LVMH’s umbrella are playing roles at the event.

These include Sephora, a partner for the Olympic Torch Relay set to kick off in the southern French city of Marseille on May 8; Chaumet, whose design for the Olympic and Paralympic medals includes a piece of the Eiffel tower, and Berluti, which is set to dress the French teams for the opening ceremonies slated for July 26 for the Olympic Games and Aug. 28 for the Paralympics.
