EXCLUSIVE: Louis Vuitton and LVMH Tap Rugby Player Antoine Dupont as Brand Ambassador

GOING FOR GOLD: Rugby player Antoine Dupont has been tapped as the sixth athlete sponsored by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The former French captain was also revealed as a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton, the luxury house and its parent group said Thursday.

Dupont said last year that he would sit out the Six Nations Championship in 2024 to join the French sevens squad with the aim of winning a first Olympic medal in Paris this summer. Earlier this week, France clinched a major victory at the HSBC Svns 2024 in Los Angeles and now boasts one of the top teams in the shorter form of the game.

Though the national team, popularly known as Le XV de France, was edged out by South Africa in the quarterfinals of last year’s Rugby World Cup, and Ireland won the Six Nations, Dupont confirmed his reputation as one of the world’s top players.

Captain of the French national rugby union team from 2022 to 2023 and scrum-half of the Stade Toulousain club, the 27-year-old was named Six Nations Player of the Championship in 2023 and 2022 and has claimed the award in three of the past four seasons.

Organizers said the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France was the most viewed rugby event of all time, reflecting a rising fan base in the Olympics’ host country.

A premium partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, LVMH is extending financial support and privileged introductions to its houses to a cohort of Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Dupont joins swimmer Léon Marchand and fencer Enzo Lefort, who have been previously tapped by Vuitton and the French luxury conglomerate.

Several of its houses are playing roles during the Olympics, including Berluti, set to dress the French teams for the opening ceremonies slated July 26 and Aug. 28, and Chaumet, whose Olympic and Paralympic medals include a piece of the Eiffel Tower.
