Exclusive: Krystal Nielson Tried on 26 Wedding Dresses Before Her Marriage to Chris Randone
Krystal Nielson found love (and marriage) in paradise. After first appearing on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of The Bachelor and subsequently Bachelor in Paradise, the fitness coach returned to ABC on August 27 for her televised wedding special.
Nielson memorably met her now-husband, Chris Randone, on the fifth season of the popular spinoff series where they dated (and eventually got engaged).
Less than a year after the proposal, the couple wed on June 16, 2019, and producers were present to tape the moment. The televised ceremony officially aired on ABC on Tuesday night at the very resort where the duo enjoyed their first date on the show. And while Nielson was thankful to share the experience with Bachelor fans, one of her favorite wedding moments wasn’t caught on camera: finding her wedding dress.

“I really loved shopping for my dress. I tried on 26 dresses,” she tells The Knot. “It was a very long, fun experience. As a health and fitness coach I’ve done some really great workouts but that workout was the most intense.”
Nielson, who did all of her dress shopping in one day, credits one particular person for helping her narrow down the selection. “I was working with a great stylist and the dresses were beautiful,” she says. “I would say that that was a really special moment for me because, as I was trying on these 26 dresses, I just kept seeing different sides of me coming out: sides that were more glamorous, some more regal and other sides that were softer, sweeter, more elegant.”

While she originally imagined getting married in a “big princess dress,” it was a sleek design that caught her eye. “Ultimately, I just fell for a lot of those beautiful dresses, as amazing as they were, I felt like I wasn’t being seen,” she continues. “It was all about the dress and not about me. The choice I ended up making was going with a more simple, beautiful Martina Liana spaghetti dress that I just felt it was me. I just feel like I was finally being seen.”

Though she didn’t end up wearing a princess dress like she originally planned to, she still felt like royalty when she walked down the aisle. She accented her sleek gown with a fresh, bronzed makeup look by Anastasia Beverly Hills makeup artist Jamie Moreno and had her hair pulled into a low, loose bun. “I wanted to go more simple-yet-elegant, and I definitely channeled my inner Meghan Markle,” she shares.

Nielson and Randone aren’t the only Bachelor stars to wed this summer. Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay married Bryan Abasolo on August 24 while fellow Bachelor in Paradise stars Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon got married on August 11.
