Exclusive: Emma Stone Debuted the Brand-New Sisley SoVolume Mascara on the 2019 SAG Awards Red Carpet

If I were to ask you who has the biggest, brightest, most expressive eyes in Hollywood, I'd be genuinely shocked if you didn't say Emma Stone. Those green stunners just beg to be the center of attention in her makeup looks, which never fail to stand out on Stone's red carpet walks. So it's no wonder that Sisley Paris would want to debut its new mascara on the double nominee at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

That mascara, SoVolume Mascara, was skillfully applied by makeup artist Rachel Goodwin, who gushes about it when I speak to her right after she completes Stone's look for the evening. "I really went for it with the lashes, to make it a focal point," says Goodwin, who loves how luxe the clump-resistant formula feels. And she had no qualms about giving Stone's lashes a healthy coating of it because it is, in fact, healthy. "It's a treatment," she tells me, referring to its peptides, protein, vitamins, and hydrating qualities. "Aside from it being a mascara, it ramps it up and makes it a beautiful, more tactile experience."

The rest of Stone's makeup look — which was inspired by the "strong yet whimsical" feel of Stone's sparkling pantsuit — was also created using Sisley products. To make Stone's lashes really stand out, Goodwin chose to go "really simple on the eyes," with a wash of Phyto-Ombré Glow Eye Shadow in Gold and a mix of Phyto-Eye Twist in Topaz and Phyto-Khol Star Waterproof Eyeliner in Sparkling Brown on the lash line.

As for the gorgeous shade of red on Stone's lips, "I mixed wine and brown shades together to create a strong lip," Goodwin says, referring to Le Phyto Rouge Lipstick in Orange Sevilla layered over Phyto-Levres Perfect Lip Liner in Burgundy.

Stone is known for regularly changing up her hair color, most recently going from her signature strawberry blonde to deep, rich auburn, right in the middle of awards-show season. A dramatic shade shift might make other makeup artists reconsider the colors they use on their clients, but Goodwin knows Stone will look incredible in literally every hue. "She's very fair and therefore color tends to read very true," she tells me, explaining that any adjustments she has made when her hair color changes have been minor. Instead, Goodwin stays focused on the event, the dress, and the overall vision of the look: "It's really more about what's right for that moment vs. her hair color."

But one thing that has never changed over the decade Goodwin has been working with Stone is those eyes.
