EXCLUSIVE: Chris Appleton Named U.S. Ambassador of Revive Collagen

Chris Appleton has been named U.S. ambassador of Revive Collagen, the liquid ingestible brand founded by Samantha Faiers.

“It was just quite organically through social media actually,” Appleton said of first connecting with Faiers. “Just sort of seeing a collagen brand and having a natural interest in collagen myself. It was quite an organic relationship that we built.”

Both are English, with a strong social media presence. Appleton, who’s based in L.A., has made a name for himself as hairstylist to stars like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, while Faiers rose to fame on reality series “The Only Way Is Essex.”

“Revive Collagen was attractive to me because it’s a British brand,” Appleton went on. “I think we share very similar values about helping people feel beautiful. That’s sort of driven me through a lot of my career, the outwardly and inwardly. I think it’s really important to not only look good on the outside, but on the inside. A lot of people see me work from the outside, but I think a lot comes from the inside in the quality of hair, skin, general health.”

For Faiers, the story behind Revive Collagen is a personal one.

“What happened to me was when I had my children, after my second, Rosie, I actually had hormonal acne, adult acne,” she explained. “It was a shock to me, because I’d grown up without acne, so it was a new experience for me. It was awful. I mean, my whole face was practically covered in acne and rosacea.”

While trying different treatments, she came across powered collagen.

“I was like, I’m gonna give it a go,” she said. “So, I started using it, and after three months, I really massively started seeing a difference in my skin.”

Seeing the potential in the category — noticing it strengthened her hair and nails, too — she wanted to create a superior product, Faiers continued: “I thought mixing powdered collagen into water is really inconvenient. And the one that I was taking was only 4,000 milligrams of collagen. We did a whole bunch of market research. The product took nearly two years to produce. We were dealing with the top kind of dermatologists, working with the best labs in the U.K. And I was like, I need to make this amazing little sachet that’s completely convenient.”

Revive Collagen, made in the U.K., uses Type 1 hydrolyzed marine collagen. “The caviar of collagen,” Faiers said. “One of our sachets is 20 times more efficient than taking a collagen tablet.”

There’s 8,500 mg in its original formula (with aloe vera and hyaluronic acid) and 10,000 mg in its “enhanced plus” product (with vitamin A, vitamins B6, B12, C and D). According to Faiers, Type 1 hydrolyzed marine collagen is the closest to the collagen naturally found in human bodies. Available in liquid form, it has better absorption rates, she added. It’s also dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free and lactose-free, with no artificial sweeteners or colors, coming in citrus and tropical flavors in 14-day and 28-day packs. The starting price is $70 for the 14-day box.

Available at Holland & Barrett and Boots in the U.K., Faiers is focused on bringing Revive Collagen to the U.S. market. — where the overall vitamins, minerals and supplements category is valued at about $36 billion as of 2022, and expected to grow to around $45 billion by 2027, according to market research firm Mintel. In the U.S., Revive Collagen is available at Saks.com and is coming to CVS.

“The sachets were really interesting to me,” said Appleton. “They’re so easy to use, you know, and I love that because I’m always on the go.”
