The quaint village of Marmorata on Italy's Amalfi Coast may not be a household name like neighboring Ravello or Positano, but the idyllic hillside hamlet recently made the news thanks to a very high-profile collaboration. Legendary Italian brand Valentino teamed up with another Italian icon — Palazzo Avino — for a summertime beach club and boutique pop-up experience. (Palazzo Avino is a luxury hotel housed in a 12th-century villa.)

The collaboration, a first for the Italian fashion company, transformed the hotel's Clubhouse by the Sea into the quintessential la dolce vita escape with Valentino-red umbrellas, sun loungers, and a 1950s-style cabina — a changing room flanked by lemon trees. Even the flowers and the club's ring buoy are now clad in white and red, and branded with the company's signature V logo. The experience includes a curated selection of Valentino's "Escape" summer 2023 collection that guests can shop in the hotel, located a 15-minute ride from its beach club.

"Of all the brands that I could think of, Valentino is the most iconic in Italian history. The Valentino team created a very memorable experience in the space, which is already super beautiful because it's right by the water," Mariella Avino, managing director and co-owner of Palazzo Avino, told Travel + Leisure. She added that the beach club, which is open exclusively to hotel guests, is now so popular that they're turning guests away.

Palazzo Avino's collaboration with Valentino is just one example of several high-profile designer makeovers of luxury hotels' beach clubs this season.

Dolce & Gabbana took things further and collaborated with multiple high-end resorts and beach clubs across Europe. In Sicily, San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel, offers guests stunning views of Mount Etna from its clifftop beach club that is now dressed in the brand's signature white-and-blue Blu Mediterraneo pattern, inspired by traditional maiolica prints. Grand Hotel Quisisana's beach club in Capri — overlooking the Faraglioni rock formations and the town of Marina Piccola — has also been given the Dolce & Gabbana Blu Mediterraneo treatment.

And while not in a hotel, in glitzy St. Tropez on the French Riviera, the brand's Carretto Siciliano print took over Casa Amor, the boho-chic beach destination on Pampelonne Beach. The same picture-perfect stretch of Côte d'Azur coastline is also home to a Gucci x Loulou Ramatuelle Beach Club partnership, a Loro Piana x La Réserve à la Plage experience, and a Jacquemus x Indie Beach collaboration.

And in Marbella, Spain, travelers can indulge in the first-ever Fendi beach club, located in the Puente Romano Beach Resort. Dreamed up as a lifestyle extension of the brand's new Astrology Summer Capsule Collection 2023, the collaboration encompasses new furniture, cushions, tableware as well as red-and-white branded upholstery textiles for the daybeds and beach chairs.

If Europe is not in your plans this summer, you can head to Los Angeles, where The Beverly Hills Hotel launched a summer pop-up with Dior. The property's upper pool deck is furnished with Dior-branded lounge chairs, umbrellas, dressing rooms, cabanas, and a pop-up boutique designed to look like a sand castle on the inside. Guests can shop for Dior surfboards, yoga mats, and pieces of the latest Dioriviera capsule collection. Guests can also book Le Jardin Des Rêves Dior Spa Cabana, where they are pampered with Dior body and face treatments and enjoy a prime poolside location.

"The Dioriviera summer pop-up offers our guests a captivating journey into the world of haute couture, showcasing the epitome of style and artistry. This collaboration not only enhances our commitment to providing unparalleled luxury but also adds a touch of excitement and fun to our guests' stay," John Scanlon, the hotel's general manager, told T+L.

Another unique amenity? A Dior ice cream cart serves house-made coconut lime, melon, and pineapple sorbet, as well as mango and strawberry ice cream.
