Excited Shelter Husky Couldn't Be Happier to Have a 'Snow Day' With Her Selfless Rescuers

If you're bundling up with an extra layer as the most recent round of winter weather hits, you're certainly not alone. Every winter, thousands of people turn on the heater or snuggle under blankets, and many of their pets join them, too. After all, so many species enjoy getting warm and cozy when it's cold outside!

Many dogs are happy to cuddle up for a long winter's nap, too, but at the same time, most dogs who were bred for the snow wouldn't even consider it! Saint Bernards, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and even Newfoundlands would love to have a romp in the snow, but no one loves blizzards and cold weather quite like Siberian Huskies and their relatives.

Just ask Lady Paw Paw! She's an outgoing shelter dog who's staying with the Nebraska Humane Society until she's adopted, and she recently had the time of her life when it snowed. On January 10, one of her generous rescuers reluctantly stood outside in the snow just so the Husky could run, dig, and play to her heart's content.

OMG--just look at her go! Lady Paw Paw has a very distinguished name to match her majestic appearance, but all semblance of sophistication goes out the window once she gets her paws in the snow. And I can't say that I blame her! It makes sense why she'd be instinctually excited to see snow, considering that she was bred for that weather, but it must feel extra special to have this experience after spending so much time cooped up in an animal shelter kennel for safety.

It could put a smile on anyone's face to see her sprinting across the yard, but the shelter worker's deadpan expressions make the video even more hilarious. Clearly, he's feeling the chill of January even with his thick winter coat, but the happy dog is completely in her element. Now that the shelter shared this sweet video clip, though, maybe someone who gets lots of snow will feel inspired to adopt her!

Some Dogs Really Are Built for the Snow

Unsurprisingly, many other Husky owners can relate to @nehumanesociety's wintertime struggles. Because Siberian Huskies are built for the snow in more ways than one, many of them are obsessed with it! It's normal to feel conflicted in these cases, as every loving dog owner wants to keep their fur baby safe, but these dogs have a unique fur structure and high metabolism that keeps these dogs warm year round.

Lady Paw Paw definitely got the memo about her water-resistant fur, but hopefully, her shelter friends can invest in a couple of water-resistant jackets, too!
