Andie MacDowell, 64, just shared a behind-the-scenes video of her getting ready for the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival.
In the video, the actress rocked a plush white robe and gave fans a peek into her Mediterranean Sea-side hotel room.
“I’m an exotic badass at 64,” MacDowell said of her Euphoria-style makeup, which included bright green gems to match her gorgeous emerald gown.
Andie MacDowell was a total head-turner at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival—but it was her closing ceremony look that really stole the show. On her final red carpet for the event, the Maid star rocked an emerald green gown paired with bejeweled eye makeup that gave everyone major Euphoria vibes. And she knows she looked good.
“I'm an exotic badass at 64. That’s what I am,” the actress said in a new video for Vanity Fair France. The Along for the Ride star showed off her pre-show prep in a special behind-the-scenes post for the publication, adding in the caption that she had a “fabulous” time getting glam thanks to her beauty team. “That’s what happens when you turn 64.”
Lucky for us, MacDowell gave her fans an inside look into exactly how she got red carpet ready this year. MacDowell donned a plush white robe with her hair pushed back in a half-up style with loose curls as she led a tour of her hotel room, which included a striking view of the Mediterranean Sea that has us dreaming of vacation.
MacDowell is a total badass—and this isn't the first time she’s owned it. In a 2021 interview with InStyle, the star opened up about aging as she showed off her gray curls. “I think it’s badass to embrace where you are [in life] and be fearless,” she said. “That is exactly what I am doing. I am stepping right into where I am with no shame, and it feels good.”
MacDowell first shared a glimpse of her natural color in February 2021, but it was actually at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival last July that she really captured the world’s attention with her gray tresses. “It was really important to me because my transformation helped me accept my authentic, true self,” she said of going gray. She added to NPR’s Fresh Air in November 2021 that she’s “never felt more beautiful” at this stage in her life.
And her confidence certainly shined through at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival this year. On the red carpet, MacDowell and her BFF Helen Mirren, 76, danced and strutted together as they walked the red carpet. Like her friend and fellow L’Oreal Paris ambassador, Mirren also challenged age stereotypes by rocking platinum waist-length extensions this year. She previously said going gray was an “easy” transition for her, too.
In an interview with France 24 from the red carpet, MacDowell encouraged women to “embrace” themselves exactly as they are, despite the fine lines and gray hair that comes with getting older. “I think we need to love where we are at every age because life is fleeting. We deserve to feel good about ourselves. And I think it’s very important that women support women in this,” she said.
