Off-duty style has held its place in Hollywood since the beginning of the industry. The mystery surrounding the private lives of young, up-and-coming actresses and press appetite for the details was only further ignited by their off-camera moments, which usually involved being dressed to the nines. As Hollywood has evolved, so, too, have its main characters. The tailored jackets were exchanged for daring looks in the 1980s, which then evolved into the simple silk tops and tight skirts in the 1990s. Actresses in the 2010s have turned their street style into a commodity, showing off their supposedly effortless personal-fashion sense on social media (despite the heavy effort that goes into dressing them, which often includes stylists).
