Stars from previous decades were forced to approach their maternity style differently—Lucille Ball stuck to billowing tops, and decades later, Princess Diana wore slouchy dresses. Today, pregnancy is celebrated, and maternity style has become an area of the fashion world unto itself. Kim Kardashian West wore form-fitting gowns with sheer lace during both of her pregnancies, while Beyoncé, who’s currently expecting twins, wears designer labels whenever she steps out. There have never been more options when it comes to celebrities showcasing their style for the entire duration of their pregnancies. It’s a far cry from the maternity clothes of earlier days.
