Evlox, Blackhorse Lane Combine Sustainability and Heritage Design in New Collection

A new concept collection marries Spanish fabrics with British tailoring.

London-based atelier Blackhorse Lane and Spanish denim manufacturer Evlox unveiled their new E-Capsule collection, a rigid jean lineup made with six different sustainable fabrics.

Aligned with Blackhorse Lane’s “London aesthetic,” the jeans are kept raw to showcase their original character.

As London’s only craft jeans maker, the atelier has produced jeans for like-minded brands including Drake’s, Christopher Raeburn and King & Tuckfield, and offers sampling and production services. It also produces its own house label of men’s and women’s jeans. Though raw denim is Blackhorse Lane’s signature, it opened London’s first wash lab last year.

The six-piece collection with Evlox includes three fabrics from the mill’s “Made in Spain Regen by Evlox” project launched last year.

The fabrics contain more than 50 percent Regenagri certified regenerative cotton from Spain in the region of Andalucia and are blended with conventional cotton. Three other fabrics in the collection are produced with post-consumer recycled colored weft.

The E-Capsule collection also highlights Evlox’s low impact Ice dyeing technology, which uses a lower concentration of indigo. Compared to traditional dyeing methods, Ice dyeing uses 80 percent fewer chemicals, 65 percent less water percent and results in a 25 percent energy savings, Evlox reports.

“The aim of the project is to provide to our clients with a variety of denim fabric performances and to show the possibilities of our fabrics,” said Noemí Sánchez, Evlox marketing manager.

Making denim since 1846, Evolx has been focused on combining its textile expertise with sustainable technologies and fibers.

In November, Evlox bowed Reiconics, a concept collection made from Recover recycled cotton fiber and Spanish cotton and finished with Jeanologia technologies.
