‘Evil’ on Netflix Is So Good (and So Terrifying)

The official synopsis reads, “A skeptical female clinical psychologist joins a priest-in-training and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possession, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there's a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.”

Not only is the series simply terrifying, but it’s also received raved reviews from both critics and viewers. Evil raked in an impressive 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, a 7.6 on IMDB and 91 percent of Google users said they enjoyed it. In fact, PureWow’s very own Executive Editor, Philip Mutz, weighed in: “This show is just so damn good. It's like a less alien-focused X-Files with a hint of Black Mirror. If you like detective shows, you'll like this. If you like The Exorcist, you'll like this. If you like Christine Lahti, you'll love this."

Directed by Robert King and Clark Johnson, the series stars Katja Herbers (The Americans), Mike Colter (Men in Black 3), Aasif Mandvi (The Proposal), Michael Emerson (Lost), Brooklyn Shuck (Rise), Christine Lahti (Running on Empty) and Kurt Fuller (Midnight in Paris). And don't worry, the show has already been renewed by CBS for a second season.

We have a feeling you might be sleeping with the lights on after watching this one.
