Everything You Need to Know About New York Fashion Week 2020

New York Fashion Week 2020 offically kicked off last weekend with its men’s shows, but the main event — the women’s fall and winter 2020 runway shows — starts tomorrow, February 6th. That means sneaking a peek at designs by some of your favorites, like Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, Rebecca Minkoff, and Nicole Miller.

One major hiccup in this year’s planning? It overlaps with the 2020 Oscars (which typically don’t occur until mid-February but were moved up this year), meaning some major designers had to opt-out in order to cater celebs who will be wearing their designs on the red carpet. One major player who will be missing this year is Tom Ford, the chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers America and an NYFW favorite. Ford will instead showcase his fall and winter collection in Los Angeles on Friday — two days before the Academy Awards.

All of that said, New York Fashion Week will still be an exciting event. That means it’s time to grab your front row spot or, let’s be realistic, get ready to start scrolling through all of the fashion, because the latest looks for the upcoming seasons are coming your way.

When Is New York Fashion Week?

The women’s shows will kick off on Friday, Feb. 7 and last through Wednesday, Feb. 12. A long list of designers will be featured at the women’s show (get the details from the official schedule, below), including Tory Burch, alice + olivia, Veronica Beard, Badgley Mischka, and Rag & Bone.

Can I Get New York Fashion Week Tickets?

In short, not really. Most of the events are invitation-only and those tickets are typically reserved for celebrities and press. But there are some shows that allow Skybox Experiences, which is a fancy lounge above the runway where you can snack on complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks while watching the show. For example, you can purchase a package for the Christian Siriano show that will cost you $600 for two guests.

If you're looking to indulge in the actual show experience, then you can find a few ticket options that give you access to a seat along the runway. Badgley Mischka, Proenza Schouler, Christian Cowan, and alice + olivia are just a few of the designers who offer limited tickets — for $750 or more.
