Party Down is back!

The black comedy starred a pre-Parks and Rec Adam Scott as a small-time Hollywood has-been who resorts to catering to make ends meet. His equally down-on-their-luck co-workers included Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Ken Marino, Ryan Hansen, a pre-Glee Jane Lynch and a post-Will and Grace Megan Mullally (who actually replaced Lynch after she left Party Down to join Glee).

In just 20 episodes—each of which centered on a different, L.A.-area catering gig—Party Down packed in a slew of A-list guest stars, including Kristen Bell, Kevin Hart, J.K. Simmons, George Takei, Ken Jeong, Joey Lauren Adams and Steve Guttenberg. ("Party with the Goot!")

The big names behind the camera were equally impressive; Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas created the show alongside Paul Rudd (yep, that Paul Rudd), while Fred Savage helmed several episodes.

“After more than 10 years, we’re excited to have the cast, many of whom are now hugely popular award-winning stars, return to don their pink bowties and head back to the party,” Jeffrey Hirsch, president and CEO at Starz, said in a statement announcing the upcoming revival. “The fan demand for a Party Down revival is clear and we look forward to what Rob, Paul, John, Dan and now Adam will do as they bring this special project and these hilarious characters back to life.”

Ready to get your Party on? Here's everything we know so far about Starz' Party Down revival.

Is Party Down coming back?

It sure is—and after years of rumors about a revival, this time it's official. As Variety notes, a development of a rebooted limited series was first reported on back in March 2021, but the real origins of the reboot began even farther back. In November 2019, several members of Party Down's cast and creative team reunited for a panel discussion at the Vulture Festival, and a reboot idea was born.

As Thomas said to Variety in March 2021, “At the end of 2019, the Party Down cast and producers were all reunited at a retrospective for the show hosted by Vulture. We had such a good time that we wanted to find a way to get the team back together again. The cast is so busy these days that finding a window where we can do it may require trigonometry, but we’re determined to make it happen.”

The good news? Most of the original Party Down cast is back on board. The bad news? Caplan is the one exception due to scheduling conflicts with other television projects.

Fans can still look forward to more from Scott's Henry Pollard (who, last we saw him at the end of Season 2, was optimistically entering an audition room for the first time in years), Marino's would-be businessman Ronald "Ron" Donald, Hansen's cocky alter ego Kyle, Starr's nerdy alter ego Roman, Lynch's '80s-heyday bit actress Constance Carmell and Mullally's ditzy "momager," Lydia Dunfree. (Fun fact: Then young actress who played Mullally's wannabe-actress daughter Escapade on Party Down? None other than Booksmart, Dopesick and Dear Evan Hansen star Kaitlyn Dever!)

Is there a Party Down trailer?

A trailer for Party Down Season 3 dropped on Jan. 26, 2023. In it, we see that some of the catering company workers have moved on with their lives, but that Henry (Scott) feels stuck in his 40s.
