Everything We Know About Sex Education Season 2

Many are applauding Netflix's hit series Sex Education, streaming now, for accurately and sensitively portraying sex, relationships, and identity. Here at Glamour, we've praised it for showing that young women can—and should—demand good sex. The show, which focuses on a nerdy teen boy whose mother is a sex therapist, was so popular, in fact, that, according to Netflix, more than 40 million households watched it within the first four weeks. And Netflix has just dropped the season-two trailer, which you can watch below:

Sex Education will return with eight new episodes on January 17—and will undoubtedly feature the same amount of ill-fated hookups and cringeworthy moments we've come to expect. “The reception to season one has been so exciting," series creator Laurie Nunn said in a statement. "Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible. I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series, and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.”

But what else do we know? Turns out, plenty. So read on to learn more about Sex Education's second season.

1. The release date. The second season launches on Netflix on Friday, January 17, 2020.

2. The storylines. Per a Netflix rep, "In season two, as a late bloomer Otis must master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola while also dealing with his now strained relationship with Maeve. Meanwhile, Moordale Secondary is in the throes of a chlamydia outbreak, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school and new kids come to town who will challenge the status quo."

3. The entire cast will return. You heard that right. Otis, Maeve, Eric, and the whole gang. But in the final episode of the first season, we saw bad boy Adam get shipped off to boarding school (right after hooking up with Eric…). Now that we know the whole cast is returning, does that mean he'll be back in the halls of Moordale Secondary School? Only time will tell.

4. There will be new relationships. Creator Laurie Nunn told Thrillist, "I love the idea of getting different characters together—if not together in a relationship, just together in the space. Like, I never thought those two characters would have a conversation, and there will be loads of opportunity for that." But what does that mean for Maeve and Otis? The last we left them, Maeve was headed to Otis's house to tell him she had feelings for him only to find him kissing Ola. While there haven't been any official announcements on the fate of their relationship, it's safe to say we'll definitely be seeing more of them in season two.
