Jenna Ortega Might Return for "You" Season 5Netflix

*Major spoilers for You season 4 below!*

Joe Goldberg might be going by a brand new name in a brand new country, but he’s back to his old tricks in season 4 of Netflix’s You. The latest season follows Joe (Penn Badgley) as he heads across the pond for a fresh start in London and transforms into Professor Jonathan Moore. Part 1 dropped on February 9 and tried to convince us that Joe had (mostly) dropped his murderous ways for good... but then Part 2 premiered on March 9, took a super unexpected turn, and proved that Joe is still the same evil Joe we met in Brooklyn way back when.

Speaking of, the final scene of You season 4 finds Joe back where it all began — in New York City. He’s in a relationship with Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), who’s inherited her father’s business empire and helped Joe manufacture the image of “quiet hero.” The couple, who appear genuinely in love, seem intent on “changing the world.” Hoping for more of your favorite Netflix hit? Read ahead for everything we know (so far) about You season 5, including if it’s happening.

Is You returning for season 5?

After four jaw-dropping seasons, Netflix has confirmed that You will end in 2024 with the 5th and final season. The official You Twitter account confirmed the news in a video clip that followed the show's star Joe, through various stages as he narrated, "Well, hello there. Hello, you. Hello, there. Hello, you. Goodbye, you."Joe Goldberg will return for the fifth and final season of YOU in 2024," the tweet read.

Is there a trailer for You season 5?

Netflix just dropped the first teaser for You S5, and although it's short, it's just as nail-biting as you'd expect. It also hints that Jenna Ortega could be reprising her role as Ellie (!!) in a pivotal way.

"Though I can't say who [Joe will go up against] just yet, we all know there are many loose ends from Joe's past," said Penn Badgley, as clips of Paco, Dr. Nicky, Mr. and Mrs. Quinn, Marienne, and Ellie flashed on the screen. This confirms what Sera Gamble previously said to TVLine during Season 4: “We have kept scrupulous track of everybody who knows anything about Joe who’s not dead."

Fans flooded the comment section with theories about how the show could bring back Ellie to tie up those loose ends and end Joe's murderous shenanigans once and for all. "What if Ellie was the one that would take Joe out? Man I'd love to see that happening," wrote one fan.

What will You season 5 be about?

Well, given the season 4 finale, Joe has returned to New York City. On April 10, Netflix confirmed that season 5 will take place in the Big Apple, where Joe's twisted journey began in season 1. "welcome (back) to New York, Joe. see you in S5," the show's official Twitter account wrote, seemingly making a Taylor Swift lyric reference.

At the end of season 4, Joe’s super in love with Kate, and the couple appears to be incredibly wealthy due to the luxury high-rise apartment looking over Central Park, their recently launched art foundation — oh, and the fact that Kate inherited her father’s international business empire.

During their interview in the episode’s final moments, Kate declares that she’s focused on “changing the world.” Meanwhile, Joe is “here to help” — *cue the menacing smile.* We don’t know what that means, but Joe’s inner monologue reveals that he’s seemingly at peace with his dark side and satisfied (??) with all of the resources at his disposal... to do what? We don’t know, but we’re scared to find out.

Is there a release date?

Sadly, no. Netflix confirmed that season 5 will be its last, but the network didn't provide an exact release date. However, the new teaser revealed that the hit series will be back sometime in 2024.
