Everything We Know About Season 2 of 'Welcome to Plathville,' Including Which Kids Are in Favor of It

From Woman's Day

After a drama-filled first season, Welcome to Plathville has come to an end after just six episodes. The show follows the Plaths, an ultra-conservative family of 11 in rural southern Georgia who have some unusual rules for their children, including no technology, no sugar, and holiday celebrations.

The first season was filled with tensions between the parents, Kim and Barry, and some of their older children who were coming to terms with the sheltered childhood they had been given. Now that the show's season finale has aired, we're left wondering if there are going to be more episodes of Welcome to Plathville to look forward to in the future. Although TLC has yet to officially confirm a second season of the show, there have been a few hints about what we could expect from a second season.

When would season 2 air?

If scheduling were to follow suit of the first season, the second season of Welcome to Plathville would air in November of 2020. But if the show is renewed for a longer season, there's a chance it could air sooner.

Which family members would be in season 2?

Season 1 ended with 16-year-old Moriah purchasing a one-way ticket to Minnesota, so its unclear what family members would be involved in a second season.

Some eagle-eyed fans on Reddit, however, spotted a few Instagram comments from Olivia Plath — the wife of Kim and Barry's son Ethan — that have given a bit of insight into who might be involved in an upcoming season. According to Olivia, TLC would only do the show if her and her husband Ethan signed on to be a part of it as well. To entice them to agree, Olivia says Kim and Barry told Ethan they would allow him to see his younger siblings again if he agreed to film the show. So it's probably safe to assume that if season 2 does happen, Olivia and Ethan will be a part of it.

But unfortunately things aren't looking too hopeful on that front. Since the show aired, Olivia has expressed plenty of frustration and resentment towards the show, accusing her in-laws of playing up their emotions for the camera and TLC of editing her storyline to be falsely dramatic. While announcing a social media break (due to the mean comments and messages she's received on social media from fans of the show), Olivia said she felt she had been "manipulated" into doing the show.

Olivia also says she and her husband agreed to filming because 20-year-old Hosanna and her husband, Timothy, would not be a part of the show, alluding to some tensions between them.

“We didn’t want to film with Hosanna and Timothy for personal reasons," Olivia wrote on Instagram. "I could only handle so many people against me.”

Micah, 18, seems to be the only Plath who's come out as being in favor of a second season of the show. On an Instagram post celebrating the finale of the first season, Micah wrote, "Y’all let’s hope for another season!! I have grown and matured since this last one! I’m just becoming the true Micah!"

What could we expect from season 2?

If season 2 happens, we would expect to see more of Moriah finding her independence in Minnesota and possibly going to college, Micah developing his new-found modeling career, and of course, more tensions between parents Barry and Kim, and Olivia and Ethan.

Season 1 of Welcome to Plathville is available on the TLC website.
