WARNING: Spoilers for Riverdale season three ahead!

Riverdale season three is well underway and we can't wait to see what strange things will be happening in our favorite little town.

Ever since season two wrapped up, (and you can binge the entire season on Netflix), there are so many questions about what's in store for the rest of season three. Like, is the Gargoyle King the new Black Hood? Or will Edgar Evernever turn out to be the true monster in Riverdale?

Well, here's what we know so far...

What's Riverdale High's Prom Going to Look Like?

It's prom season around the country, even in Riverdale, and your favorite gang of teenagers is heading to the dance of the season on next week's episode. In classic Riverdale fashion, things are probably going to get real crazy real fast on prom night and it's going to involve either drugs, a cult, the Gargoyle King, or all of the above.

To start, it looks like the prom is Medieval-themed, and all of the students followed the dress code like REALLY strictly.

According to E! News, prom is the last thing on Bughead's mind as Betty is trying to come to terms with the news she just received regarding her father. Apparently, the detective couple will be more preoccupied with confronting the Gargoyle King (whoever that may be) than with picking out a corsage.

Meanwhile, Archie's mom, Mary, is back in town and she is apparently concerned with her son's growing interest in boxing. One could also assume that her presence on the show means we will finally get an explanation for Fred's departure since the last scene Luke shot before his passing aired last week.

And, of course, Cheryl will be busy working on her campaign for prom queen, but that doesn't mean she won't find time to fit in a dance with Toni.

With all of these couplings, you may be asking, who is Archie bringing to prom? The show has been hinting at a Varchie reunion for the past few weeks and from the looks of it, the stans will finally get what they want.

Has Season three finished filming?

Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, and Vanessa Morgan revealed that they have wrapped for season 3. Madelaine posted 2 cute Choni picture with Vanessa that made all the shippers freak out!

Vanessa also revealed that the cast has off for the next 3 months before they start working on season four.

Lili Reinhart posted a photo of her trailer while also sharing that she's done for the season.

Cole Sprouse shared that he has officially wrapped on the filming of season 3 by posting a photo we have to assume was taken on set. "Wow thank you all so much for the season 3 wrap gift," he joked in the caption of a pic of him lounging on a giant tank.

Ummmmm, what does this mean or the end of Riverdale season 3?? Should we expect war and tanks in Riverdale? It wouldn't be that wacky, considering some of the other catastrophes the town has faced.

Meanwhile, KJ Apa seems to still be putting in the work on his last few episodes of the season, posting an Instagram from behind-the-scenes, and let me just say, Archie has seen better days.

I am sure KJ is used to this bruised makeup by now, considering how many times Archie seems to find himself in dangerous situations.

The caption of the picture is "4:06AM," which we can only assume is when the pic was taken. KJ is obviously working hard, filming his last few scenes of season 3 before the season wraps completely.

When Does Season Three End?

The CW has officially announced the finale dates for their shows and Riverdale fans have a couple more months before the season ends.

Season three of Riverdale will end on May 15. Fans don't have to worry, as the show has already been renewed for season four, which will come out later in the fall.

How will Luke Perry's Death Affect the Remainder of Season 3?

News of Luke Perry's passing shook Riverdale fans to their core. Not only did we lose an incredible actor and person, but a positive and loving character as well. The question now is, how will the Riverdale writers handle the actor's death? For now, production has stalled on season 3, according to Variety, but it's unclear how long this hiatus will continue. Right now, according to IMDB, the season three finale is set to air on May 1, but there aren't done filming the season yet, so this halt could affect that schedule.

And then there's the question of how the writers will handle Luke's death as far as his character is concerned. We have to assume Luke didn't finish filming his scenes, since production has not wrapped on the season. That means, Fred's disappearance will, most likely, have to be explained before the end of the season.

We don't have too much information right now, but you can keep up with any updates regarding the remainder of Riverdale's season 3 schedule and the fate of Fred Andrews here.

What's next for Josie and Archie?

Josie and Archie may have just shared their first kiss, but there is still a lot more to come for Jarchie in the remainder of season 3. A relationship is new ground for Josie, who is usually more focused on her music than boys. "You'll kind of see what that dynamic is like for her," Ashleigh Murray, who plays Josie, told Seventeen. "How she deals with sort of, kind of, being attached to somebody."

The relationship will continue to develop, despite mixed reactions from the Riverdale fanbase. "There's been positive response," said Ashleigh. "There's also been very negative responses. Some people are just really attached to these characters and aren't afraid to express that and often times it's very nasty and like the reality is, Veronica has been making eyes at Reggie for how many episodes now? For two seasons everyone was begging for Josie to get a love interest and now that she has one the fans are like, 'No, not Archie!' Well, what do you want?"

Ashleigh feels that part of the issue lies in the way the episode was edited. "I do really feel like if the editing had been different in that [first kiss] scene, the fans would have seen how we gravitated from being far away to being close and how music kind of brought us together and sometimes that's all it takes, for the energy to build."

While Jarchie may seem like a random coupling, Ashleigh disagrees. "There is actually a lot of chemistry between the two of them, and granted we weren't always on screen at the same time, but when we were, it was very clear that it could be something if there was space to explore it, but there was never any space."

Now, the two have finally united, and, thanks to the power of music, it seems like their relationship will continue to grow throughout the remainder of the season.

What's next for Reggie and Veronica?

After that crazy midseason premiere, fans are still freaking out over Veronica and Reggie's new relationship. While Varchie fans might be holding out hope for their favorite couple, Charles Melton reveals that this is only the beginning for Veggie.

"You’ll definitely see this relationship grow. Not only will you see this relationship grow, but you’ll see their working relationship and how that all ties into everything.… I think fans are going to be excited to see the evolution of this new relationship," he told Entertainment Weekly.

He also said that he understands where Varchie fans are coming from.

"Hopefully we can turn some Varchie fans into Veggie fans after they see the kiss and really see how much Reggie cares about Veronica," he said. "Reggie’s support for Veronica will not waver. Reggie is very honest, and maybe he might be a little bit more reactionary than most. But, yes, we can definitely trust Reggie."

Will we be getting more Choni in the remainder of season 3?

In the midseason finale, Cheryl popped the big question to Toni, asking if she wanted to move in to Thistlehouse. The question seemed pretty absurd. I mean, they are in high school, but considering special circumstances (the town is quarantined, students are dying and having seizures left and right), I guess it kind of makes sense.

If you think the big move is too soon, like I do, consider this: Riverdale's creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, wanted the couple to move in together in season two!

"It’s funny, that was a scene that was in the [season two] finale, that we didn't air," Roberto told Entertainment Tonight. "Sometimes it’s because of timing, and other times it’s because we’re like, 'Oh, this just feels a little bit fast.' And it felt like the crisis of the quarantine and the crisis of the seizures was something that would motivate Cheryl saying to Toni, 'Why don’t you move in here with me?' Even though there’s crazy stuff going on in the episodes, we wanted to make room for those character moments and I’m happy to say that that is the start of a little bit more of a focus on Cheryl and Toni."

Yup, this means we will be getting a lot more Choni in the rest of season three, which is pretty much everything we could dream of, right? Apparently, we will also be learning a little bit more about Toni and her background, and Roberto promised, "there's going to be drama," but what else can you expect from Riverdale?

Are there any other special episodes coming in the second half of season three?

The third season of Riverdale has already been over-the-top amazing and chockfull of special episodes (I'm still thinking about the flashback ep), but we're not even halfway through the season and there's still a ton of exciting content to look forward to.

One of those special eps is called "Bizarrodale," and it sounds like it's going to be pretty epic. The episode will treat Kevin, Josie, Reggie, and Cheryl as the Core Four, instead of the usual crew of Archie, Betty, Jughead, and Veronica.

"And it’s a really fun episode. A really fun episode,” the show's creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, told The Wrap. "I’m really excited about that one."

What will "Bizzarodale" look like? Will the new Core Four be dating each other like the original crew? Or will they all keep their normal significant others? Will they dress like the OG Core Four? Act like them? OMG, I have so many questions.

And that's not all we have to look forward to. Roberto has another exciting episode coming up as well.

"And then we have an episode - the show has always been noir and always trending noir," he explained. "But we’ve got an episode coming up that is completely noir: how it’s written, how it’s shot, the plot of it. And it’s really fun."

This means the ep will be shot in black and will probably have a very dramatic feel to it (more than usual, I mean). We also might see Bughead taking on another mystery, private eye style (I'm talking trench coats, phone booths in the rain, you know).

We still have to wait a few more weeks until Riverdale returns from its winter break, but it's good to know the wait will be well worth it.

Are there any photos of Jughead's mom and sister in Riverdale?

While on their road trip, Archie and Jughead decided to stop by Toledo, to visit Gladys and Jellybean in the season's eighth episode. It looks like they're both excited to see him again, judging by their faces in the latest photos.

But it looks like not everything will be okay with Gladys, as she will also be showing her dark side during their visit.

Looks like this happy reunion might not be so happy after all...

How are things going to change with Jughead's mom back?

Don't expect things to get easier when Gladys, Jughead's mom, comes back into the picture. Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that things won't be so easy when it comes to Alice and F.P.'s relationship.

"When you bring a character like that in, it’s usually to cause problems," he told TVLine. "What’s nice about Gina is, she has sort of an innate warmth to her. Even if she’s doing terrible things, you kind of love her."

Guess it's safe to say we'll have a love/hate relationship with her.

Will Hal Cooper return?

It looks like we haven't seen the last of Hal Cooper/The Black Hood. According to the synopsis of the November 28 episode of Riverdale, "The Man in Black," Betty will be going up against someone from her past. While there haven't been any photos of Lochlyn Munro back on set, it seems like Hal makes the most sense, according to ComicBook.

Riley Keough will also appear as Laurie Lake, who helps out Archie on her farm when he suddenly appears. But, she's set to stir up some trouble with Archie and Jughead. Does this mean Varchie and Bughead are in trouble? We'll just have to wait to find out.

Will the rest of the season be happy or menacing?

A true Riverdale stan knows that there's always some stressful drama in the Town with Pep, and Rob Raco (aka Southside Serpent and Archie's prison mate Joaquin) basically confirmed that the rest of the season is going to be messy AF. Rob stopped by Seventeen HQ to talk about all things Riverdale, and when he wasn't talking about almost barfing on KJ Apa or how his audition for the role really went down, he made some very terrifying faces when asked how the rest of the season would pan out.

Watch and see...

Rob also got real AF about his first ever kiss with Kevin in season 1, which was allegedly super fun and... smelly? "We eat so much tuna before the scene, and then go hard-in for the kiss, and we ended up getting it in two takes. I think it looks pretty good," Rob said. And, apparently, he wasn't mad about the tuna. "It was like a bonding moment where I'm like, 'Hey, I'm Rob. And I can taste your tuna.'"

Are there any special guest stars?

Get ready to see more of Mark Consuelos' family on Riverdale. While it's already known that his son, Michael, will be playing the younger version of Hiram in the parents flashback episode, Mark's wife Kelly Ripa is also joining the cast as Hiram's mistress.

Kelly Ripa made the big announcement on her Instagram writing, "it's a family affair. Hiram's mistress. 23 years of auditioning for a role I was born to play. Coming soon to the @thecwriverdale."

According to US Weekly, "Kelly Ripa will guest star on Riverdale as Mrs. Mulwray: Confident and tough, she is Hiram Lodge’s alleged mistress," the CW said in a statement. "She’s a beautiful, icy, femme fatale who gets caught up in a conspiracy that’s much bigger than she initially realized."

Looks like she's going to cause some trouble for Veronica and Hermione.

What is the cast like IRL?

We had Hayley Law (aka Valerie Brown aka Archie's girlfriend in season 1) visit Seventeen's HQ to talk all about her cast members IRL. Watch on and learn a bunch of behind-the-scenes deets...

Have we met the Gargoyle King before?

Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that while we still don't know who exactly the Gargoyle King is, there's a good chance we've already met him.

"The Dark Lord [from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina] is the supernatural devil and the Gargoyle King is most probably a guy in a mask,” Roberto told US Weekly.

When asked if we met the Gargoyle King already, he replied with, "probably."

We still have no idea who it is, but that clue certainly helps.

Will there be any musical numbers this season?

While we're still waiting for official confirmation on whether we'll be getting a musical episode this season, the River Vixens are already breaking out into song in the season's second episode.

Veronica and the rest of the River Vixens decide to visit Archie in juvie and (of course) they start singing "Jailhouse Rock." Check out the video below:

What does the cast look like in the parents flashback episode?

Get ready to be taken back to the 90s, cause the first photos for the highly anticipated parents flashback episode are finally here. Some of these characters look SO MUCH like the parents back in the day, it's kind of crazy! Entertainment Weekly got to share the photos and they look amazing.

What have the cast members been revealing about each other?

While we're still freaking out over what happened in the season premiere, some of the cast members have been having some fun in NYC as they stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and revealed some things about their cast members.

According to KJ and Lili, Camila Mendes is the biggest flirt out of the cast members. They also revealed that Cole is the cast member who gets the most DMs, while KJ says he doesn't look at his DMs at all, although, Lili joked that he just gets "nudes constantly."

Check out what else they had to say about their cast members:

What did the cast reveal at New York Comic Con?

We got to sit down with some of the Riverdale cast members at New York Comic Con and ask them some of our biggest questions about what we can expect in season 3.

The season will be split in two:

"We deal more with the Farm in the latter half of the season, the first half is more of a different mystery. But, it's still there," Lili Reinhart told Seventeen at New York Comic Con.

The first half will have Jughead and Betty trying to solve a mystery that seems to plague Riverdale. "For the first chunk of episodes they're either going to be solving a murder - they don't know if it's a murder or a suicide," series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said.

Jughead's mom might not be so approving of Betty:

After the big announcement that Jughead's mom, Gladys, and sister, Jellybean, will be joining the cast this season, Lili said that things might not go so well between them and Betty.

"Betty is gonna have to meet the mother and what does that mean? I don't necessarily think Gladys is going to be the woman who approves of Betty, because she's not a true Southsider. I think she's gonna be suspicious, probably rude," she told Seventeen. "Not having the mother's approval, I don't think Jughead will be concerned with that. But, I think, it might be hard to balance if Gladys moves back to Riverdale or gets more inovlved. That could put in a divide between [Jughead and Betty]."

We will be seeing more of Kevin and Moose:

Kevin and Moose fans can rejoice! Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that fans should expect more moments between the cute couple.

"I've been waiting for a Kevin and Moose relationship since the pilot. I wish I could say it's smooth sailing. Moose is more in the closet than Kevin," he told Seventeen. "It's in episode 2, Moose's father shows up and kind of, as an authority figure in Riverdale High, which sort of causes some tension between Kevin and Moose. We are gonna see them making out more. I love those guys. We're hopefully going to go the distance with them."

You might not have seen the last of Chic:

We're not the only ones who would love for Chic to come back. Mädchen Amick says that she hopes he will make an appearance, especially due to her love for Hart Denton.

"I have a hope in a storyline that I have no idea if this could be the cast. But, I want Chic to really be Charles and that Hal made him say that he wasn't her real son to get him out of the picture, but really, he is her real son," she revealed to Seventeen. "Cause I love Hart and I want to get him back on."

FP and Alice's relationship is a secret:

FP and Alice will be getting back together this season, but not all of Riverdale will know about their relationship, including Bughead.

"They're keeping it on the down low. FP/Alice and Betty/Jughead get into it at one point and FP and Alice are challenging them on something," Mädchen told Seventeen. "In the middle of the argument, all of a sudden, they're like 'wait a minute, what are you two doing here together?' So they're keeping it under wraps. They're not really out in the open about it."

What's the theme of season 3?

Season 3, is going to take a slightly different turn, according to Cole. He described the upcoming season as a "cult mystery" and while I'm not exactly sure what that means, we can assume it has to do with The Farm and the arrival of Edgar Evernever, The Farm's leader.

Will Jellybean and Gladys Jones be seen in season 3?

Good news Jughead fans, we're finally going to be meeting more of the Jones family this season. Series creator Roberto Agurrie-Sacasa announced at New York Comic Con that Gladys Jones will be played by Gina Gershon, while Trinity Likins is playing Jellybean. Fans will have to wait a bit to see them as they will be showing up in episode 8.

Have we gotten some answers to all of our questions from that outrageous trailer?

Just 7 days until the premiere of Riverdale season three and the producers are really spilling all their guts! Show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa talked to Entertainment Tonight on their Youtube show, Sweetwater Secrets, and answered a TON of questions regarding the upcoming season and that crazy trailer we were given a few weeks ago. Here's what he shared:

Why does Archie have a serpent tattoo?
In the trailer, there's a clear shot of Archie rocking a serpent tattoo on his upper right arm. So, does this mean the Serpents are getting another member?

Not exactly. According to Aguirre-Sacasa, the tattoo is "not what the fans think." In actuality, "it's a protection that Jughead can extend to his friend, that's the orgins of the tattoo." So maybe Archie is going to get in trouble with the Serpents (again) and he gets a temporary tat, courtesy of Jughead, to protect him. Or, more likely, he uses the tattoo as protection in prison. That way, any Serpents behind bars will look out for Archie while he's there.

Will Betty be getting a Serpent queen tattoo this season?

Speaking of tattoos, it seems only reasonable that the Serpent Queen would get one as well, and Aguirre-Sacasa agrees. "You'd think she would, right?" he said. "We can tease that that will probably happen at some point this season."

Woah! That means she will mostly likely accept Jughead's proposal to become the serpent queen! I wonder where she'll get the tat. Maybe on her upper thigh a la Alice?

Will Cheryl get a Serpent tattoo?

So many new potential Serpents this season! At the end of season 2, we saw Cheryl get a custom red Serpent jacket, but does this mean she'll be getting a tattoo as well? Probably not, but that doesn't mean she's not joining the gang.

"I think what we're going to learn about Cheryl is that she doesn't necessarily follow all the rules ever - including the Serpent rules," said Aguirre-Sacasa. No surprise there!

Who is the "Gargoyle King?"

Ever since fans first heard about the mysterious "Gargoyle King" and saw that super spooky pic of him in the trailer, they've been wondering, what the heck is that?! Many rumors and theories have been spreading, but we still don't know for sure who the Gargoyle King is and what kind of havoc he will wreak on Riverdale. Aguirre-Sacasa explains that the King is related to a game that is gaining popularity in Riverdale this season.

"This season on Riverdale, a mysterious Dungeons and Dragons-like game has surfaved in town and it's called Griffins and Gargoyles," Aguirre-Sacasa said. "The parents of Riverdale are terrified of it because the game is affecting their children." Things get even more sinister when "the bodies of two students are found in the woods and it's discovered that they were playing Griffins and Gargoyles and that the main villain of the game - the Gargoyle King - may also be stalking the streets of Riverdale."

OK, so it's the Black Hood but MUCH spookier, or like if Jumanji was a horror film.

Is Varchie really end game?

In the trailer for season three you hear Veronica yell (presumably to her father), "We will survive whatever you have planned because we are end game." But is this true? And if so, what will be thrown at Varchie this season?

Aguirre-Sacasa explained that Veronica is an extremely passionate character, who fights for her relationship with Archie "really, really passionately."

It seems like Aguirre-Sacasa originally had other plans for Varchie in season 3. "I thought that with all the problems that we were going to be throwing at [Veronica] and Archie, I thought that Varchie might be sacrificed early in the season, but their passion has proved very resilient," he said. "So you can tell Varchie fans that they are fighting to stay together and if this ship does go down, they will go down fighting because these two are crazy about each other and they just won't let go of each other." Wow, get ready for some drama.

Why were Alice and Polly holding Polly's twins over a fire?

In possibly the most shocking moment from the trailer, we see Polly and Alice holding the babies, Juniper and Dagwood, over a fire. So what the heck is going on there?!

As expected, Aguirre-Sacasa says it's all part of The Farm storyline. "You know we've been teasing this strange organization - The Farm – since season one. The Farm is coming to town and Polly's twins are part of The Farm. They're definitely being held close to a fire." Poor babies! First they get named Juniper and Dagwood and now this?! In another interview with ET, Madchen Amick, who plays Alice explains that "Alice went in hard on buying into The Farm and just trying to heal her wounds, so in Alice fashion, she does everything 185%."

What can we expect from the Serpents in season 3?

Ex-daddy Serpent, Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones) took the lead on this question. "It's kind of an overall change in general," he said. "They're kind of disassociated and lost a bit and trying to find their footing. They have to find a new place to live, new place to gather...They're in a bit of shambles, obviously Jughead's leading the group, but FP is right there to guide him as well. There are a lot of changes on the Southside and none of them are good."

What's going to happen between FP and Alice in season three?

Give us Falice or give us death! While we saw that amazing shot of the two in bed together in the trailer, it might not be so simple according to Madchen and Skeet.

"They've been through a journey," Madchen said about Falice's relationship.

"They come together in a way that's not necessarily to do with their own chemistry to start, which can lead in one of two ways, but most of the town is kind of bonded by a central problem," Skeet said. Hmm, well we hope this bonding at least leads to more Falice screen time.

Have the producers shared anything?

They warned us to "beware the gargoyle king" and we laughed (because, what even is a gargoyle king?). But then, the Riverdale producers shared a photo on Twitter of His Royal Highness and, let me tell you, they were right.

"'G' is for Gargoyle King, gruesome, gory, grim, and gnarly," Aguirre-Sacasa wrote. "His reign on #Riverdale begins on 10/10 on the CW. 14 days away!"

OK, that thing IS terrifying? Seriously, we thought the Black Hood was bad. What even is that? It must be a man in a mask, right? Because, unless we are getting a crossover between Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina much earlier than assumed, I don't think there's a horned man running around Riverdale.

In addition to the photo, Roberto included some emojis, like a snake (is he a Serpent?), a key, some fire, a joker card, and a die. None of these things are "fun." You wouldn't send any of these emojis to a friend on their bday. From these emojis, it seems like the Gargoyle King is going to enjoy playing some games on our fave Riverdale gang.

The Gargoyle King isn't the only spooky clue we've gotten about the new season. Producers have also shared a poster featuring the incredibly attractive gang of parents whom we can thank for birthing the meddling kids that call Riverdale home.

Does the poster look familiar? That's because you've seen a similar one before, just with the younger cast. Tweeted out by the official Riverdale account, the posters have kind of vintage and has a rustic, woodsy feel. At the bottom of both versions reads, "Let the game begin."

Yes! We are so ready!

The release of the adults' poster makes it seem like the older folk will be playing a larger role in the upcoming season (not that they've really taken a back seat in the past two). We know that we will at least get an origin story of the OG Riverdale crew, where the youngins will play their parents, back in the day.

From the young cast's poster, we can tell that the gang is all back together, with Toni, Kevin, and Josie staying on as important characters in season 3. The addition of Reggie Mantle on the poster makes it seem like he will also have a larger role in the new season (hopefully he will be topless).

There's not too much more information to gain from the poster, except that maybe a lot of the season will be set in the woods, though that wouldn't be much of a deviation from the past two seasons. There's also the blood red animal skull. It's creepy, yes, but who knows what it means.

When Riverdale's creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted the new poster, he included the line "Beware the #gorgoyle king." OK, WTF is a gargoyle king?? Maybe it's that terrifying creature from the new trailer. Or maybe it's the red skull on the poster itself. Either way, I don't think the Gargoyle King will be a nice guy.

The "game" could be in reference to the cover page that Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted out recently, which hints at a game that "turns deadly."

The cover shows a photo from the classic comics where Archie, Jughead, and friends are playing Dungeons and Dragons, maybe a hint to that terrifying dragon-monster-thing from the recent trailer.

Along with the photo, Aguirre-Sacasa wrote, "Chapter 40 of Riverdale, and the game turns deadly... You have been warned..." This leads us to think that the gang will play a game and, in classic horror flick fashion, something will go wrong and someone will end up dead. But what game are they playing? Who will die? And why does Aguirre-Sacasa love to make us suffer with these teasers?!

Aguirre-Sacasa also revealed a lot during The CW's presentation at 2018 Television Critics Association press tour and even had the adults from the show on hand to answer some questions. So what should we expect? Well, the kids will actually play a younger version of the adults during the season's fourth episode called, "The Midnight Club."

"We learn learn about a really dark secret that the parents have been keeping since they were in high school," Aguirre-Sacasa said, according to Deadline. "We’ve been teasing this for years, going back to Season 1. I call this the 'Lili Reinhart Memorial episode' because she’s been wanting to do a flashback episode for years."

"Throughout the years, we’ve talked a little bit about backstory and we’ve been revealing backstory slowly," he said, according to Comic Book. "And periodically I will get a call phone call from Madchen [Amick], who’ll say, 'Ok, I’m playing a scene and I know nothing of the context.' So we talk about that stuff."

A wedding episode will also be happening and it's between a "certain ex-sheriff and ex-major," which means Tom Keller and Sierra McCoy will be tying the knot. "They seems to be the most stable relationship on Riverdale right now," said Aguirre-Sacasa.

Hiram will be going against Archie after his arrest and Marisol Nichols, who plays Hermione Lodge, revealed that she will "delicately stand up to her better half" thanks to her new power as mayor of Riverdale. "She is going to fully commit to using that power." She also said she loves the moral dichotomies of her character, according to journalist Damian Holbrook.

Luke Perry said that he expected Fred to win the mayoral race. "I definitely thought I was gonna win," he joked, according to Holbrook. "I got hosed by the electoral college."

The Black Hood won't be disappearing completely, although, it might be a while until we see him again. "All these mysteries like Jason Blossom, Hiram’s criminal empire, the Black Hood, they never go away completely but become part of the bedrock of the mythology town. I would say there’s some ski mask out there that could pop up," Aguirre-Sacasa revealed.

Aguirre-Sacasa also said that we'll be seeing Jughead as the new Serpent King and Betty will be by his side, although she might have some reservations about her new role. "Jughead is a really good leader of The Serpents," says Aguirre-Sacasa. "That’s a big story point in the season premiere - they really define what Serpent Queen means and whether they’re all in or not."

Even though this new news might cause Bughead fans to panic, he assures everyone that there is nothing to worry about. "I don’t think that love triangle [between Archie, Betty, and Veronica, a mainstay of the comics] is ever completely settled. It’s a long journey, these kids are still in high school," he said, according to The Mary Sue. "We hope this is a long journey on the show. I don’t know. On some level, I can say that, we never in the writers’ room say, ‘okay, today we’re going to break up so and so.’ We follow the story and the story tells us a little bit. But right now, those couples-especially Bughed-they’re pretty solid.”

Despite this, Archie and Veronica might run into some issues with a new love interest coming in and they will be joining the cast earlier than we think. "It is true that there might be a new love interest for Veronica, and you might see seeds of that in Episode 3," he said.

Those hoping for a Riverdale and crossover will have to wait a little bit longer, as Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that it's currently not in the works. "I think right now we’re just making sure that the shows have their own identities and own set of rules."

He also revealed that another Riverdale spin-off is currently in the works. "We’re still early on in the process and it will be very different from Riverdale," he shared. The spin-off is currently being developed, according to Deadline.

How close are the cast members this season?

While we have seen the cast members bond off-set on red carpets and special events, Lili Reinhart says that their friendship is actually much deeper than we think thanks to the huge success Riverdale has become.

"It’s kind of like the cast of Friends; they did that together," she told Who What Wear. "I think that’s a bond that [the Riverdale cast] has created as well and you just don’t let go of. I’ve made friends in this show that I will have hopefully until the day I die."

She went into deeper detail about her friendship with Camila Mendes, saying that their friendship is real as it gets.

"Cami and I are friends; I don’t need to go out of my way and make that apparent. I wouldn’t do that just for press," she said. "Cami and I have held hands through this whole thing, which has been really amazing because we were both put on the same pedestal together. It’s really wonderful to have someone to go through that with."

Will there be any new characters in Riverdale season three?

Apparently, all you need to do in order to join the Riverdale cast is just ask, at least, if you're Riley Keough.

Riley has been cast as Laurie Lake, "all-American farm girl who takes in Archie and Jughead after they wander onto her property in need of shelter, but what starts as a warm and possibly flirtatious interaction twists into a situation that presents more danger than they could have imagined," according to Vulture.

Riley previously tweeted out that she wanted to join the cast earlier this year and it looks like the producers took notice.

Two new characters will be moving to Riverdale during season 3. Evelyn Evernever and Edgar Evernever will both be causing some trouble for various characters in the Riverdale universe.

Evelyn will be Betty's new best friend that might have some bad intentions while Edgar will be Alice's new guru with a sketchy group of followers known as the Farm. KJ shared with Seventeen.com how excited he was to get some new cast members in Season 3.

"It’s been epic! We have such a huge cast. It’s crazy to be constantly seeing these characters that we’re familiar with in the comics. Every day you’re working with these kind of iconic characters and watching them being played in real life is pretty surreal, because I’ve been reading the comics and stuff and it’s hard to even still now [believe] I’m a part of it."

While some new characters have been announced, fans are still waiting with baited breath for the arrival of a couple more. Can we meet Jughead's mom and Jelly Bean, already?Jughead has been talking about them for ages now, and their return to Riverdale would definitely ramp up the drama now that FP seems to be rekindling whatever flame he used to have with Alice Cooper.

Ethel Muggs Will Have a Larger Role in Season 3

Recently, the creator of Riverdale, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, posted a pic of Ethel on Instagram, with a very revealing caption.

"'E' is for Ethel, eccentric, enigmatic, earthy, euphoric, and possible...evil? 15 days till Season 3 begins!🔥😇☠️👀🐍🛢👣🗣💋👮🏻♂️👠👑🦇🌪🔥🍔🤼♂️🏆🎸," Aguirre-Sacasa wrote.

So, what does this mean? We already know that Ethel will be playing a larger role in season 3 than she has in seasons past, but could she become another roadblock the gang must get past as they work toward peace in Riverdale? (Side note: what is the gang's end goal? A normal, quiet town? A decrease in the murder-per-capita rate? To get into an Ivy League college?) Anyway, last season, Ethel went off on Veronica, throwing a milkshake in her face, so who knows what will be next?! Maybe she'll slap Jughead in the head with a burger. As Aguirre-Sacasa said, only 15 days until we find out!

"There’s definitely more Ethel in Season 3, so fans can definitely look forward to that and it’s definitely interesting," Shannon Purser, who portrays Ethel in the series, told Bustle. "I can’t give away too much, but she definitely undergoes some pretty big changes... there’s a new side of her [fans] haven’t seen before. I think it plays a very interesting part in the story this season.”

It's about time we learn more about Ethel! We can't wait to see this new side of her, and we hope it involves more milkshake throwing.

Expect Things to Get a Lot Darker

When Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Casey Cott, Luke Perry, and Skeet Ulrich discussed the upcoming season with ET at the iHeartRadioMusic Festival, they used some choice words to describe season three. "Deep, dark," Skeet, who plays FP, began, "and dangerous," KJ chimed in.

"They're going to freak out," said Casey Cott of the fans when they see season three. "It's going to be gnarly," said KJ.

Thought things couldn't get darker than a serial murderer running rampant through the town? Think again! Season three is bound to be a wild ride.

Is Falice finally going to happen?

Yup! Aguirre-Sacasa teased, " The FP/Alice story is something that is a long storyline for us, so expect more to come." This was confirmed in the most recent trailer for the new season, which featured a super steamy pic of the couple in bed together.

Madchen Amick, the actress who plays Alice Cooper, spoke to Us Weekly about the couple recently, saying, "We’re gonna see some Falice. Maybe rolling around in bed and it may happen more than once."

Unfortunately, nothing is sacred in Riverdale and things may not end too well for the long awaited couple. "We can’t let anybody in Riverdale live happily ever after," Madchen added.

This might be due to the arrival of Mrs. Jones, who we will finally get to meet in season 3. "She’s a badass, an ex-serpent,” Cole Sprouse told Us. “She’s gonna be trouble.”

Despite this, Madchen feels that Falice belongs together, so hopefully that means that they will reunite in the end. “I think they’re both really good for each other," she said. "They’re like Bonnie and Clyde. They’re both fiery and strong and clearly something happened that broke them apart but I think they belong with each other. They’re each other’s soulmates."

What can we expect when it comes back?

All eyes are going to be on Archie and his trail as it reaches its end when the show finally returns for season 3. "It’s Labor Day weekend and it’s closing arguments for Archie’s trial," executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly. "His fate hangs in the balance, and in the premiere episode, the outcome of the trial will be revealed."

A new mystery will also be going around Riverdale and one of our favorite couples will try to get the bottom of it. "One of my favorite things recently was the first season of True Detective, and we’re sort of telling a similar ritualistic crime that happens in Riverdale," Aguirre-Sacasa said. "We jokingly call it teen detectives meets True Detective, because we find Betty and Jughead investigating this really disturbing crime that seems to speak to the very twisted history of Riverdale."

Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that there will be more Bughead moments in season 3 thanks to the new mystery. "What made people fall in love with them from the start was seeing them together as this team, a crimefighting duo," Lili Reinhart said. "You definitely see that within the first few episodes. They take this new killing spree under their belts, which is a lot for two teenagers to do."

The highly-anticipated parents flashback episode will also feature a bit of a throwback for fans of Dungeons & Dragons. "The murder victims in the present were playing a game called Griffins & Gargoyles, which is, of course, the Riverdale version of Dungeons & Dragons," Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly. "Our kids discover that when their parents were in high school they also were playing this game, and there was a similar murder that happened in the past."

Even though they will be playing their parents in the flashback episode, Lili says that we shouldn't be expecting them to have the same personalities that we know them as today. "Young Alice is so different from the Alice that you see today. She’s not just this uptight, precocious, looks-down-upon-everyone teen; like, she was a Serpent.”

Two new characters will be added to the cast and they will be stirring up some trouble for Archie and the gang. With The Farm moving into Riverdale, Edgar Evernever and Evelyn Evernever will be coming into the show and they're not going to be the same people hardcore Archie fans might remember from the comics.

"We’re going to meet the farm’s leader, Edgar Evernever but, equally important, we’re going to meet his daughter, Evelyn Evernever, who is an Archie character that we’re sort of reinventing for this storyline," Aguirre-Sacasa said. He also said that The Stepford Wives inspired them when it came to creating the idea for The Farm. "There’s almost a banality to the cult and a sort of generic-ism that gets sinister pretty quickly."

Dilton will be going through some changes this season.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa can't stop hinting as to what to expect in this new season and it looks like things are going to be changing for a character that we haven't seen in a while.

Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that something will be affecting Dilton and it might be something supernatural.

"‪'D' is for Dilton. Demented, deranged, diabolical, but also...possibly...demonic? #Riverdale 🃏🌋🐍⌛️👁👑🍷🏰🔦🛢‬," he wrote on Instagram. Maybe this will link with the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina or the mysterious Farm?

Are there any photos from the show yet?

The first photos of the season have finally been released and they gang seems to be back together, even with Archie's murder trial looming.

Archie, Veronica, Jughead, and Betty decide to go camping for Labor Day weekend and it seems like the couples got a little cozy around the campfire, even though they are clearly worried for Archie.

Is there a trailer for season three?

We've got our second trailer for season three and it is...overwhelming.

The 30-second video, provided by E! News, begins with Archie in handcuffs on his way to jail, presumably for the murder of Cassidy Bullock. Over images of the gang, Veronica says, "We will survive whatever you have planned because we are endgame." Yes Veronica!

There are then many more dramatic shots including some Bughead love, and Archie with a serpent tattoo! We also get a shot of Alice and FP in bed after what we assume is a love-making sesh, and we get to see her HUGE serpent tattoo, which is on her thigh.

The excitement by no means ends there. There's a shot of Kevin and Moose kissing, Betty fainting, and a very strange creature (the new Black Hood?). Seriously, the trailer is intense, and it ends with a shot of Jughead, who seems to have maybe stumbled upon a cult ritual, with two motionless bodies at his side screaming, "Help! Somebody help!" Wow, we have a lot to look forward to.

Thanks to San Diego Comic-Con, The CW released the first trailer for season three and there's a lot going on after Archie's worst summer ever.

Alice can be seen as part of the Farm, a group that Polly recommended to her mother after the events in season 2.

"It heals you," Madchen Amick joked at San Diego Comic-Con according to Entertainment Weekly. She also mentioned that the Farm is run by a "really handsome cult leader," which will obviously make things interesting for Alice in the future.

Tensions will also be high in Riverdale, thanks to Hiram Lodge and his followers.

"When we meet them in the premiere, they're trying to maintain a peace between the Serpents and the Ghoulies and Hiram that quickly gets disturbed in our first episode back," showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed according to Syfy.

Fans of Bughead will be able to rejoice as Lili Reinhardt shared at San Diego Comic-Con that Jughead are in a good place at the beginning of the season. "They start off season 3 as the investigative duo that they were in season 1," she said according to Entertainment Weekly.

Camila Mendes revealed that the same cannot be said for Archie and Veronica, as they will hit a rough patch during the season.

“There’s a struggle,” Camila Mendes told Us Weekly. “They are going to struggle in their relationship … and there might be someone else.”

Veronica will also be running a speakeasy at Pop's, which will cause some trouble between her family now that her father has cut her off.

"I feel like in season 2, she was a trying to decide if her dad was a bad person. And I feel like in season 3, she’s decided he’s a bad person. Took her long enough,” Camila told Us Weekly. “I think there’s gonna be so much more of a clear battle between Hiram and Veronica because now, she owns Pop’s. She’s cut off financially and has to support herself, and her father’s constantly trying to get in her way of that.”

Mark Consuelos told TVLine that Hiram is set on making Veronica's life horrible. "He's set on ruining her life right now like every dad and high school kid. I don't think he'd like her going to jail and visit him (Archie) in jail, so he'd probably put a stop to that."

Not all of the relationships from the show will go sour, as we will likely see more of our favorite BFFs together.

"For sure we're gonna see Betty and Veronica being friends again, and Archie and Jughead being friends again," Aguirre-Sacasa said according to Syfy. "We're gonna focus on the friendships again."

Fred is also likely to stay on Archie's side no matter what, according to Luke Perry.

"It depends on what happens with Archie in this situation. My life is all about my son and so, I feel like, my life is hanging in the balance here. So, I don't know. We're gonan see how it goes with him (Archie)," Luke told TVLine. "And that's the thing about being a parent, your kids determine the quality of your life. If it's cool with them, it's good with you. If they're having a bad time, it's a bad time."

Fred and Hiram will also clash with each other during season 3, including the first episode of the season which KJ called the'Clash of the Hot Daddies'.

Archie will likely have nothing to worry about thanks to his attorney, Ms. Wright, played by Penelope Ann Miller.

According to Entertainment Weekly, a lot more exciting things will be coming during season 3 including the return of Fred, FP, and Tom Keller reuniting to help Fred. Gladys and Jellybean Jones will finally be appearing for one or two episodes. There will also be a musical episode and a flashback episode where the Riverdale children will be playing their parents and will reveal some of their history.

Looks like there will be a lot to look forward to in season three!

Have the actors weighed in on season 3 yet?!

Lili Reinhart tweeted that after seeing a preview of the season 3 premiere, she thinks it's the best season yet!

Her tweet included some interesting emojis including a skull, surprised face, some weird symbols (is that a dollar sign), magnifying glass, and a black hole. So, we can only assume season 3 with include death, surprises, money laundering (thanks to Hiram, probably), snooping (duh), and black holes (OK, I'm not sure how to explain that one).

Cole Sprouse also made a comment about the upcoming season in the most ~Cole~ way ever. Jughead tweeted a pic of a kid's toy ad that has a little boy who is CLEARLY excited with text that says, "Pretend you're the serpent king and hiss out a warning!"

If you want to buy this toy for yourself (and then tweet Cole about it), you can get it below.

Cole captioned the image: "Here’s a visual guide on how to prepare for #riverdale season 3, October 9th."

The Parents Have Something to Hide and Will Be Getting Their Own Episode

The parents will have their own episode called "The Midnight Club" where they will be played by the younger actors in the show. The episode will revolve around this secret that they have been hiding since they went to Riverdale High.

Creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared a picture of the parents in a page of the Riverdale yearbook. While also sharing the actors' amazing throwback yearbook photos, they also got superlatives that are pretty accurate to where they ended up.

It was also announced that Anthony Michael Hall from The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles will be guest starring in the episode as Principal Featherhead.

The younger cast members will be playing the parents in this flash-back episode. So far, it seems like Cole Sprouse will be playing FP, KJ Apa will be playing Fred, Camila Mendes will be playing Hermione, and Lili Reinhart will be playing Alice. Mark Consuelos' son, Michael, will be joining the cast as the younger version of Hiram.

Of course, Mark was super excited for his son and even posted a sweet congrats post on Instagram.

They even hit up the 2018 Teen Choice Awards together and he is honestly perfect for the role!

Since the episode's announcement, fans have been trying to figure out what the big secret the adults are hiding is and they've made some pretty good guesses so far.

Reddit user collegeradiodaze has made the most predictions and they all seem completely possible.

Someone was killed or some catastrophe took place and they were all present and possibly responsible. Unsure, they agreed to keep it a secret. A kind of homage to "I Know What You Did Last Summer."They're all responsible for something that wound up screwing someone over. Maybe they all bullied the person (though I feel this is unlikely for Fred) or maybe they let someone take the fall for something they did. They all made a deal with someone super-shady to ensure some kind of purpose/goal.Sometimes the episode titles directly parallel the media from which they are taken, sometimes they do not. If it it is in this case the parents all took part in some grand scheme, likely illegal, to achieve their own individual ends (i.e. money, revenge, status, etc.).Their parents (i.e., Great Grandpappy Cooper's generation) performed some kind of ritualistic sacrifice that is genuinely forked up (and now that Riverdale is officially in the same universe as 'Sabrina' this kind of ties the two together) and it was their turn to do the same thing. Maybe there's some kind of curse on the town (Uktena or Greendale related?) which ties into the "epidemic" planned for S3.They struck a deal with the devil for eternal beauty if not eternal life, haha.

Another user pointed out that the old photo that was in "House of the Devil" might have something to do with it as well.

Looks like we'll just have to wait to find out what the secret really is.

Are there any changes behind the scenes of the show?

Fans of Betty's look might notice some differences in her makeup now that Lili will be taking over as her own makeup artist. She opened up to Refinery29 about her struggle with acne and why she decided to take control over her makeup routine.

"I do my own makeup for the show this season. We have a head of makeup and she's great, but I know my skin better than anyone else and I know what works," she said. "Riverdale is such a perfect world that my skin has to look perfect, so I cover my breakouts; it's just the aesthetic of the show, which can be hard. A lot of the girls on the show have really beautiful, clear, smooth skin, so sometimes I feel like the odd one out."

She also said that her acne can even affect her mood and worsen her anxiety.

"Nothing is worse than when I have a breakout and I have to be in front of a camera; it makes my anxiety a 10 out of 10. I had a bad breakout on my forehead two weeks ago while filming and I woke up that morning knowing it was going to be a hard day, which is really sad because I’m letting a breakout control my mood," she said.

Even though she looked amazing before, we're happy to hear that Lili will be feeling a lot better in front of a camera now.

When will Riverdale season three premiere?

According to the official Archie comics Twitter account, the third season of Riverdale will premiere on Wednesday, October 10th at 8pm! Let the countdown begin.

KJ Apa opened up to Seventeen.com about what fans can expect on the first episode of Riverdale. "We start off with Archie on trial for the murder of Cassidy Bullock, and he didn’t kill him obviously because we saw Andre, Veronica’s chauffeur, kill him. So we start off [the season] in court," he said. "It’s a hot, sweaty courtroom. It’s the hottest summer Riverdale has ever seen, so we’re using the elements of Vancouver to our advantage. For Archie that’s definitely the meat for it for the first episode and we’ll see if he goes [to jail] or not."

He also said that the possibility of him going to jail will cause some tension between Archie and Veronica.

"I think the chance of him going to jail for however many years, his relationship with everyone is gonna get kind of gnarly because he’s not going to be able to see anyone," he said. "There’s a confrontation between the two of them where she wants to visit him in prison and he doesn’t want her to do that just because that environment isn't best suited for someone like Veronica. Also, because of the distance, it might shake things up."

Camila Mendes teased to Us Weekly that when Riverdale returns, it won't be as dark as we expect.

"We come in strong, and it’s actually a really fun episode. There are a lot of happy moments. And sad moments, but you just see the characters in a place they’ve never been before," she said. "I hope [Veronica] conquers the war against her father.”

Still can't wait to go back to Riverdale until the show's big return? Luckily, Spotify has you covered thanks to their new motion comics. Nerdist was the first to announce the big collaboration which brings Archie comics to life in a six episode video series that follows Archie and the gang in Riverdale.

The comics include old favorites like Betty, Veronica, and Jughead as well as some characters that still haven't made their way to the show yet. All six episodes are already available on Spotify.

Has season 3 started filming yet?

Yes! On July 9, Twitter account @CWRiverdaleNews posted a pic of the iconic Chock'lit Shoppe with the caption: "Pop’s is open for business. #Riverdale Season 3 starts filming TODAY!"

Writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa posted the first page of the script featuring a special comic that features Archie being yelled at by a lawyer.

The episode is also called "Labor Day," which means it's likely there will be a time jump to the next school year.

How many episodes will be in Riverdale season three?

There's no official episode count just yet, but considering Riverdale is one of the CW's bigger hits, a 22-episode order is a safe bet.

Will We See More of Betty and Jughead?

Yes, Bughead fans, we WILL be seeing more of Riverdale's biggest couple in season 3. Lili Reinhart shared in her interview with HarpersBazaar.com that Betty will finally be happy in this next season, especially after all she's been through."In the season finale, when you saw Betty and Jughead in bed together, she's smiling when he says, "Will you be my serpent queen?" [Aguirre-Sacasa] told me, 'When I watched that scene and I saw Betty smile, it made me want more of that," Lili shared. "I think the girl deserves a break."She also shared that she hopes Betty gets to hang out with Kevin and Veronica even more in the third season."It's something I'm very much pushing for, that you do see the kids interact more as a group," she said.

Could there be any surprising romances in store?

Well, if it were up to KJ Apa, there would be! While speaking at Oz Comic-Con 2018 in Australia in early June, KJ was asked what he thought about the Archie/Kevin (Arvin? Karchie?) ship in the Riverdale fandom.

His answer, according to journalist Claire Kramer, is beyond on-point. "Love it, let’s go," KJ said.

Can you imagine what an epic ship that would be?

But KJ isn't only interested in coupling up with Casey Cott (who plays Kevin on the show). He also wants to BE Kevin. "I would play Kevin. Kevin’s my favorite character, and I tell Casey [Cott] that all the time. Casey’s one of my best mates," he said.

I wonder if KJ knows something we don't about season 3? Could there be some body-jumping a la The Originals (crazier stuff has happened in the town of pep)?

Is Chic gone for good?

Not necessarily. After Betty sent the Black Hood (aka her dad) after Chic in the cemetery, we never hear from him again. When Betty goes to the morgue with Cheryl to investigate a corpse that she assumes to be Chic under the guise of working for The Register, she is relieved to see that it's not Chic in the body bag. But there where is he? Did he really just leave town? Or is he decomposing somewhere in the woods? Or is he just laying low until season three where he will get his revenge?

According to Madchen Amick (who plays Alice Cooper), Chic's fate might actually be the latter. At an event for mental health awareness, Madchen talked about season three and her role opposite her son Chic (played by Hart Denton). She said, “I’m sure you’re all aware of [Hart’s] creepy portrayal of the Cooper son and I can’t wait to see what he’s gonna be up to in season three. Spoiler alert!”

Wait, he's alive?! What is he going to be up to?! Tell us more, Mrs. Cooper!

Will Kevin ever find true love?

Actually, Kevin's love life might get a whole lot steamier in season 3. After season two wrapped, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa opened up about delving into Kevin and Moose’s relationship in season three.

“My hope is that it continues,” he shared with EW. “It’d be nice to see Kevin in a romance again. But they’ve got a big cloud looming over them, which is the death of Midge. Which is kind of par for the course on Riverdale.”

But does he really think it'll happen?! “I’m rooting for them. I hope it’s more than just a moment of passion," he said. We couldn't agree more.

Will the entire Riverdale cast be returning?

There's no official word on which cast members are definitely returning next season, and considering anything can happen on Riverdale - from murder and lifelong jail sentences to a divorce after decades of marriage (looking at you, Hal) - it's never safe to assume the whole cast will make it out of season two alive.

Even though Cole Sprouse t's pretty much guaranteed the core four - KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes, and Lili Reinhart -will be back as Archie, Jughead, Veronica, and Betty. And in an Instagram post, Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom) confirmed she'll be returning for season 3. It's also pretty safe to assume your other Riverdale faves will also return, like Casey Cott (Kevin Keller), Madchen Amick (Alice Cooper), Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones), Ashleigh Murray (Josie McCoy), Charles Melton (Reggie Mantle), Marisol Nichols (Hermione Lodge), Luke Perry (Fred Andrews), and Mark Consuelos (Hiram Lodge).

Will Polly Cooper have a bigger role in the third season?

Possibly! At the end of season two, Polly talks about a placed called “the farm,” and she begs Alice and Betty to “absolve” Hal so they don't meet his same fate. Then, Polly tells Alice, “I think I have someone who can help you, mom. A friend of mine, from the farm, who healed me when I was so broken after Jason.” After their chat, Polly gives Alice this chilling AF look. Something tells me that this isn't the last we've heard of "the farm" or the man who runs it.

Will any fringe characters be more involved in season three?

Yes! Vanessa Morgan, who plays Cheryl’s girlfriend Toni Topaz, and Charles Melton, who plays Reggie, will both be series regulars in the third season, according to TV Insider. Does that mean Choni is end game???? Please let it be so!

“Toni Topaz has been a break-out character for us since Jughead met her at Southside High – and that’s thanks to Vanessa Morgan’s fearless, winning performance,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TV Insider. “We’re thrilled that the adventure of this fan-favorite will continue into season three. Long live Choni!”

Will season three have supernatural elements?

Not likely, but anything goes in Riverdale. Back when we were anxiously waiting for season two to premiere, there was lots of chatter about incorporating supernatural elements into the mix, such as werewolves.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Seventeen.com while "Riverdale will always have a strong genre element," he didn't really anticipate going down that route. (That's where The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comes in, we assume!)

However, he didn't totally rule it out. "I’m a big believer in never say never," Aguirre-Sacasa said, "but I think the idea is to keep it pretty grounded in the real world with heightened elements of crime."

Will Reggie Mantle get more screen time in season three?

Season one Reggie (played by Ross Butler, and later by Charles Melton in season two) barely had a role on the show. While season two Reggie has played a slightly bigger role, we still haven't seen much of Riverdale High's bad boy. Thankfully, that's going to change in season three.

"We will see more and more Reggie in Season 3," Aguirre-Sacasa told Seventeen.com. Finally!

As of May 2, it was announced that Charles had been promoted to series regular for season 3.

Will other dead characters come back, like Clifford Blossom did?

It's definitely a possibility.

Though the Blossom patriarch died on the season one finale, actor Barclay Hope made a shocking return on season two - but not as Clifford. Instead, he played Clifford's twin brother, Claudius.

While Aguirre-Sacasa didn't confirm another "dead" character was kinda/sorta coming back to life, he also didn't deny it. "I can tell you what I say to every actor who dies is, 'No one in Riverdale seems to stay dead forever, so at any point you might come back.'"

Will there be a Sabrina/Riverdale crossover?

Ever since Netflix confirmed the Sabrina reboot was happening, there have been rumors of a Riverdale-Sabrina crossover episode. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will happen next season (or at all).

In an interview with Vulture, Lili Reinhart said she doesn't think Betty will ever appear on Sabrina, or vice versa. "I think Betty’s solely in the Riverdale world and it doesn’t make sense for a crossover," she explained. "That’s why the decision was ultimately made to move to Netflix - to make these Riverdale and Sabrina shows completely separate universes. I don’t really know what Roberto’s plan is for Sabrina or what aspect of the supernatural or magic will be used. I know that doesn’t exist in Riverdale. At least right now. So it wouldn’t make sense for those two worlds to collide. So, I’d say don’t expect Betty to be in that world."
